Getting your bike transported to Florida

I just noticed this add on Kijiji. It seems like it would be a good setup for people that don't like crazy touring but would like to hit up these kinds of far off events (especially on an SS). You just fly over and your bike is already there. Anyone ever use these kinds of services? What was your experience?

Also, I'd be interested in maybe hitting up Nova Scotia /Cabot Trail next year and if there is something similar and I could avoid the 2-3K, mostly boring, ride I'd be interested too.
 
It'll be pretty efffed up if you're in Florida and your bike is not.......
 
Crazy idea :) I always hear everyone in Florida complain how straight their roads are, so not sure I'd make it my destination of choice (if going for more than the bike show).

Seems like a neat idea though.
 
I don't think there are too many "twisties" available in florida, I think its more of a cruising pace for most. Lots of scenic roads. I think that is why there are so many streched out busas and other bikes there. The bike can be 20 feet long if you never need to turn :D

Great place to go for great weather and nice vistas, not for carving turns

I'm not really into huge convention or meetups. I ride to ride; if I take a week off and go to the states it'll be to some twisty roads where I'll have more fun.

I can always look on the internet to see what happens at a convention.

I'd rather ride on straight roads beside palm trees than sit on my bike in my garage making vroom vroom sounds with my mouth in the winter. :P It's something to look forward to after a couple months of PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome).

FWIW, I've never been to Daytona Bike Week or Sturgis, but I'd like to check them out.
 
Florida holds no appeal to me, especially when it comes to riding. Though I would ride there, you get to pass through some amazing places where riding is actually good. Then get to Florida, spend the night, and turn around and come home. Now that sounds like a great time. Each to their own though, for me shipping my bike somewhere defeats the purpose of it.

If I'm ever in the area when its happening, I'd probably drop by just to say I've been there.
As for the bike in the garage; as long as there's no snow on the ground I'll be riding.

Florida aint that far, just RIDE THERE!

Daytona Bike Week is crazy fun! Alot more relaxed that any ralley they have in canada, lots of bike (I think last year is was over 500,000 bikes) and lots of females. Can drink alcohol all the way down the main st!
 
Its cheap to rent a bike in florida to ride in florida " cruiser for cruising" if you factor in insurance. Sturgis is near many twisty roads like the black hills, badlands and even a day trip to bear tooth pass.
Ill probably store my bike in Florida this winter.
 
I would actually ride your bike down to Miami for free, and wth bring it back too LOL

I did a 6k trip down in August and had the best times ever. Roads on the way such as Skyline Dr and Blue Ridge Parkway and US 129 are just absolute playgrounds for motorcyclists and you avg 60km/h for an entire day while being amazed how much fun going 60km/h can be. Freedom of the endless open roads,,,, nature, bright sky, bright moonlight, bright stars, the lack of civilization and just being on your f'in on in somewhere you dont even know where is part of the equation for that route. And when you get all those combined, it's such a sensation.... it's to live for.

I-95 from Jacksonville to Miami (600kms) is the exact opposite tho. Never ending straight line and the humidity/heat kills you slowly. Knowing that the hot chicks in bikinis swimming in the ocean 10miles off the freeway is the worst part tho. It leaves you in a dilemma with every exit sign "should I take the next exit or just keep going" lol

After entering South Beach Miami tho, it becomes clear why one shouldn't take all those exits on the way south. It's hottest girls everywhere saying hi, and everyone knows what they are there for =)

It is far if your riding through a March Nor'easter blizzard. What's relaxed about 500,000 bikes in one place? To each their own but you wouldn't catch me there.
