Gov had this plan all along to move prices to $1.50. Pandemic just made operators jump on the increase bandwagon.. and here we are.
But we should be glad to save the planet with a new taxes and no viable alternatives. 🤷‍♂️

Read this has something to do with opec, they plan on making up for lost profit during the pandemic

Must be in cahoots with the US that has had an equal increase

Government this, government that... Spoiler alert: it has nothing to do with your boi JT and his gang:

It’s the monopoly. We’re paying oil in the ground prices for in the station’s storage tank gas that was purchased down the chain months ago.

It was about $1.40 in 2006 then dropped by a third. Covid has stripped every part of our lives bare and we aren't all that pretty naked.

From a consumer viewpoint everything seems to be negatively affected, gas, car prices, furniture, housing, food but don't worry, the budget will take care of itself.

it is, they telling everyone under 40 to transit their way out the country.
I know lots of people that left because ‘Canada is going to the shitter’. So they went to greener pastures.

Many came back because it ain’t as pretty as they thought when they had to live there instead of being tourists for a month at a time.

Is the increase simply from the ramping up of the carbon tax that the whole country voted for?

'Make it $5/L.
People will still buy as much as they did at $1

I don't know anyone who cuts down on their consumption of fuel due to price.

1.40 a ltr is not cheap gas when the barrel is hovering around 80 bucks
Not compared to the barrel but on a global level most first world modern nations are higher than we are--although some are of course lower.

Agreed, lots of things are factoring into the current price besides just the cost per barrel. Supply chain for one is messed up all over the world.
