Fusebox won't close due to the fuse tap - suggestions

I got a used garmin this season and used a fuse tap to wire it. Everything's great except the fusebox won't close. The bike uses a mini fuse. I could have gotten a low profile mini fuse which would have made it easier, though I'm not sure if it would have fit given the lack of space. The low profile mini ones look stubby. I was thinking of wrapping the entire thing using self-infusing silicone tape to protect from rain and debris. Is this a good idea?

Trying not to make this a bigger project than it should be at this point, and if needed, look at it during the winter.

How big is the box? Pieces of old inner tube can make condoms to deflect spray and seal the gap between the box halves. You can also get fuse taps with different configurations (eg parallel, perpendicular, in line) that may allow lid to close.

I would just figure out which circuits are keyed and tee into it using a custom T made with OEM connectors. Better yet, post your issue on a site specific to your model - no sense in reinventing the wheel when other owners have most certainly done it before.
