Food choice

Pizza tends to be more consistent. Will the hotdogs or pizza have pork in them? That would rule out some people.

Maple Leaf had three facilities . A chicken , pork and Canada Packers beef . My brother was an accountant for the edible oils division. Want a horror show ? Learn what’s in nutriwhip whipped cream product ( hint , it’s not cream ) .

I am sadly addicted to Cool Whip even knowing there's only trace amounts of dairy in it.

My buddy works for them at the new London plant...his job with ML started as an exercise in finding ways to kill more chickens quicker!

I don't know if this is true, but a co-worker who used to work at a chicken processing claims that for the Halal process, they run the conveyors under video monitors playing the prayer that's required, and then to maximize production they speed up the conveyors and play the video at high speed. He said it was comical to see and hear the prayer in "chipmunk", but apparently it meets the Halal requirements.

This is definitely a question for the next time I see my buddy. He set up their entire process at the new plant so would be interesting.

Once upon a time, dinner gatherings with family was fun.But now that my grandkids have matured we rarely get together for meals. When we do,it's very hard to please everyone.Gluten free, alergies, vegan, lactose etc etc etc.

Berries and twigs are universal foods and come with a bonus that preparation is very quick and easy.

This is not true. Hand slaughtered. No prayers. No videos.

Depends are you the host of the event?
- If you want easy, no prep, easy clean up, pizza
- If you want something more tailored, then hotdogs (Beef and chicken optiosn). Cheap enough also you can by lots not to run out.

If I am a visitor, I want both.

Yeaaa...last time I was in Europe there was none of that on the menu's. Somehow they all survive.. Maybe it's changed in the last few years to accommodate the western tourists. Though I would bet highly doubtful they mess around with any of that in Eastern Europe where you're still allowed to smoke in the bars :ROFLMAO:

We'll see what we can do. While I know it is tough being a food vendor their expectations can be a little unrealistic.
I think we'll see Hot dogs, popcorn and candy.

For what it’s worth I’ve been involved in a lot of this for large feeds for big groups . I organized a lot of regattas , if your doing a small group out to your farm , then whatever . If it’s an event somebody will want to have a FoodSafe handling certificate. Easy to get online , couple hours . If you’re using a caterer or a food truck , even a hotdog cart , they have that . You can bring pizza from. The pizza store and hand out slices, if you want to cook onsite someone should have a handling certificate. When you’re cooking onsite , say a church basement , the location needs an inspection and certification.
While not the least expensive option , either hire a hotdog cart guy , or bring in pizza pizza and call it a day .
If it’s a bunch of guys / gals , having fun , have at it . If it’s in anyway tied to a business , you can skirt the rule , but it can also be a PITA .

As an aside , Halton Hill health and safety inspectors are the worst , they are underworked and bored so they look for stuff that doesn’t matter . The nonsense they put church’s through , that have been running potluck dinners for a hundred years is nuts .

Maple Lodge Farms are chicken specialists and do not produce any pig / hog products . If your friends made ham in there , you'd best not eat it.

, Maple Lodge is owned by friends of my parents and I've been through the Ontario facility a few times , if your delicate, you wont eat chicken after that either.
Maple Lodge processes my brothers chickens off his farm. I think he is referring to Maple Leaf........they owned Fearmans pork processing plant in Burlington for a bit. That is the plant that had the crazy PETA protesters every Wednesday. I remember driving by one Wednesday and there were two teenagers across the street making and handing out hot dogs to all the people stopped at the light - hilarious!
