Driving schools in Durham

Young drivers of Canada would be about the only one I would recommend anymore.

I would actively avoid any that take their students into far flung areas for their actual road tests as well. We all know what happens when people from urban areas get shuttled into chicken scratch nowhere one stop light towns in Northern Ontario for their driving test, only to come back and actually have to drive in Toronto traffic.

Explained that phenomenon to my son, "why would I take a test that doesn't represent where I'd be driving?"

I would only recommend 'Young Drivers of Canada'. Did it when I turned 16 and they were great. While I'm sure things have changed, there are a ton of pop ups and bullcrap ones...so stick with the largest of all for better results.

If any school 'guarantees' a pass...my kids aren't going there.

I did young drivers decades ago. It was pretty good. Some good concepts taught that improve safety even if unrelated to laws.

Around Barrie, I don't remember the last time I saw a YD car. I see cars from other driving schools every day. I assume YD has a small percentage of the market share here. Drive Wise is the most visible but they don't have a location east of TO.

It's worth checking with your insurance company once you think you have a school selected. It would suck to find out your insurance company doesn't acknowledge the training.

To shave a couple months off the wait time?

We get a lot of that here in Kawartha Lakes. My fave is the Lucky Driving School.. seriously. Scarborough instructor permit on the back of a Corolla with 6 Chinese kids jammed into it. :ROFLMAO: Terrifying yet kinda` funny.

I received a delivery where I once worked, tractor with 53 foot trailer, probably carrying 100k pounds. Driver a large Sikh gentleman teaching his brother to drive using his drivers license. He was a frequent delivery guy, we often talked, he and his brother could have been twins, he said he had a lot to learn still. Remember that driving around the GTA.

Looking over the paperwork he received, apparently completing a proper beginner driving education program can shorten the g1 timeline.

I did if for the insurance break when I was young , I assume it’s still helpful . Mine was associated with CAA and we had the option to learn on a manual transmission.

Speaking of drivewise, an instructor in tbay got pulled over on the way to work and charged for seat belt, cell phone and dui. Drivewise obviously fired him.
