"On Memorial Day Weekend, motorcycle rider Chris Moore was arrested by Dallas Deputy Sheriff James Westbrook. The arrest was part of crackdown against sport bike riders. Moore says Westbrook made up a charge in order to gain access to the video camera mounted on his helmet

In b4 this becomes an FTP thread.

Hopefully his lawyer gets everything straighened out. This cop was way out of line. I don't see how the video evidence would be used anyway, it was seized illegally.

Ok the cop overacted but I can just imagine how frustrated he must have been after this happened. I think he was just happy that a bike finally stopped for him.

Still doesn't give him any right!!! That's like saying I should get to punch you for reading others douche bag comments.

Sent from my iPhone. (not while I was riding)

I don't quite agree.

The first video is completely wrong for the arrest in my point of view as that rider wasn't really doing anything wrong (but we only see what has been posted, nothing prior to it).

The second cop dashcam shows just how ignorant and stupid these bikers were. They were acting like if they were in a Mad Max movie. Also why did the girl in the back of the p/u bail her friends and what did she hand off to the other biker before.

So just to be clear, I am not justifying the arrest but the other bikers didn't really help the situation at all. Taunting the cops (brake checks, wheelies, burn-out) not going to get you on LEO's good side.

Just my $0.02

Two sides to every story, and as the 2nd vid shows a whole group of riders were being jackasses on public roads and they all deserved to be busted. The guy who got caught most likely was doing it too, so don't feel so bad for him.

Innocent till proven guilt!

PS but getting a cruiser door slammed on your leg warrants not being able to see a plate? (ummm no! never!) If the officer had a valid charge or reason to pull him over in particular, he "must" provide and state all reasons for being arrested at the time of arrest. What his buddies are doing doesn't make him guilty!

For the stated charge of "plate not visible" the force used on the arrest was excessive and the charge would typically not warrant a road side arrest. A citation yes!

I totally agree the group was a bunch of hooligans but unfortunately unless the cop has video of that bike and rider personally stunting etc.... this will look extremely bad on him in court. "Its not what you think happened, it's what you can prove" is the law in court.

If we are spared yet another boring "ride" video dubbed with awful music, then the officer did us a favour. Seriously though, catching a cop being confrontational isn't news. Foolish motorcyclists aren't news either, so why get worked up over it? He wasn't tazed and gets his day in court, right?

That hand off looks like probable cause to me!

Could nail hom on impeding the police officer also!

Nothing trumped there.

yes the rider is this video, Officer had a list of reason's, but the other one was a bit sketch.

Yup, that video is gold, a good example for all those people that think cops don't discriminate, fabricate evidence, lie, steal and illegally seize your property.
This happens all the time to motorcycle club members, black people etc.. and who ever else they feel the need to bully and flex their muscle on.
Watching how easily he loses his temper and assaults the innocent rider, is just proof that he is poorly trained, and should never have been given a badge in the first place, he's not professional enough to do the job.

One day cameras will be mandatory for the police, then we'll see how many really are dirty pirates with an attitude.

And even though this thread should stand on its own, it will soon be thrown into the good cop bad cop thread, swept under the rug because all the dirty pigs read this site too.

That may be a bit presumptuous. The guy in the first video was courteous enough to ride within the speed limit and pull over, instead of speeding off.

Frustration is no excuse for the misconduct the cop displayed...
- Cop wanted to sieze the helmet cam, without a warrant, as the reason for pulling him over
- Cop arrested the biker for no particular reason, and did not read his miranda rights
- Cop then proceeds to pin a made up infraction which wouldn't warrant an arrest anyways
- Also, cop's dash cam footage was erased... how convenient?

Now if this biker was stunting, and the cop pulled him over for that reason it would have been a different story.

Though this guy wasn't the offender, the cop was attempting to Subpeona him and the witness was clearly being an *** to cover his buddies. The fear is that the rider would wipe the evidence before a court order is filed. Which all indication is that he would. The rider was incorrect in stating that he did nothing wrong and could not have his personal property confiscated. A subpeona essentially does just that. I am not fan of hard on for biker cops but the rider should have been charged with impeding an investigation or something. Riding with a camera and GPS is a double edged sword. It can burn you with insurance companies and law enforcement or it can help.

I once got pulled over in the UK for the border of my licence being suspected to be too small. The cop broke out a damn ruler and measured. It turned out to be ok. If I had been an ***, trust me it would have gone down a bad path.

I also got pulled over for suspicion of attempting to free or survey a high profile criminal in a cop escort through the streets of London. The cavalcade broke off and went North West and I continued North East. I was stopped 5 blocks later after the fork because they had reported me following too close for 5km and suspected I would zip ahead and head them off in central London. I was only close because I was able to keep pace but at a safe distance due to filter which is legal.

Imagine me trying to be a legal all star on the road side in that situation! God knows if it was some terrorist in shackles, and here is me looking like I'm gonna spring him. I would have been in an orange jumpsuit with a black sack on my head inside of an hour if I dropped defiant inflection like buddy in the video.

Don't ride with incriminating video if you don't want to incriminate! I have been the victim of crimes and lost my own property to evidence, the very property that was stolen in the first place....I never got it back from even the cops!!! So this rider has no clue when he says they have no grounds to access his camera, and he decided to grand stand and be all Jacky Chiles on the shoulder. Bad move.

maybe i have bad ears, I turned it up and could not make out clear speech to see what was actually happening. i saw a roadside stop, a guy getting out paper work, some arguing and then the rider getting into the cruiser being arrested.

You've got to be kidding. The cop was being a bully.

Yes, he could have pulled the guy over and requested that he turn over the footage to help in an investigation and if the rider refused, the cop could have held him while he attempted to get a court order to seize it but even that would be a stretch. It's not like he was a witness to a robbery or murder.

God knows I love a good argument, and I'll make a defence of my actions road side every time I get pulled for filtering in traffic (in TO), but not ever ever ever in the tone of fashion this guy did. Try that tone in court and see what happens also. If you're going to defend, defend like a timid mouse, but make your argument clear. The cop isnt a judge and in doubt they can defer their judgement to a real judge. In this case do what the cop says and take it up in a legal court. Mouthing off like you passed the bar is a bad move.
