Daily sports car?

That’s gonna cost a pretty penny to fix that interior back to proper condition.

From 35k down to 21.5k is a big drop.
 
Just picked up a 69 Spitfire, gonna be my go-kart.

Going to drive it this summer, then do a restomod over the winter.

Did a lot with British cars as a kid, looking forward to returning to the simplicity.

If you wanted it to drive and your OCD was low, you could avoid fixing most of the damage and just enjoy the noise (not as good sounding as the AMG merc though).
 
Spitfire are interesting cars. Super easy to work on, faster, better handling and more dependable than there's sisters MG and Austin.

Also best setup for restomods. Lots of chassis and repower options. Restomod early thoughts are using a CTS donor, 270-300 hp, 6 speed tremtec and posi diff -- beaters show up for less than $1500.

Should be enough for an 1000lb roller.

I‘m on the hunt for a TR6. A few members are getting to a certain age and might be able to pick up a decent driver with little work.

I don't know why British cars intrigue me -- I've owned a few of them and should have learned they take a lot of fixing. I used to repair them as a side hustle when I was younger, no local shops would touch foreign cars back then, and the Leyland dealers were stupidly expensive and slow. I got pretty good at pushing smoke back into wiring.

I had a TR6 for a long time, it was a pretty good car -- and much faster than Spitfires and MGs. I

IMHO, not many British cars are worth restoring - including TR6 and Spitfires. Repair them, drive them, or use them in a restomod.
 
Exactly why I love Brit Cars. They are a cheap hobby and can be enjoyed. Parts are easy to find and easy to work on. The electrics are easy enough to manage now. Electronic ignition helps. Only issue is the same for everyone. Chinese quality aftermarket parts look good but, might not work out of the box or fail after a summer of driving.

Unless you go with an E Type series 1 then, even hunks of rust are nutty prices. And most won’t drive them to events outside their neighbourhood. A friend buggered his front clip of a 62 E Type. $40k repair.

Triumphs and MGs are dime a dozen and look the business. And like some old bikes, feel like they are going 100 mph when they are slower than a minivan.

Same color as my 71 GT. Also had a 75 was converted to GT V8 at Abingdon motors.

I'm stupid, and because I'm stupid I'm considering another WRX for a laugh, or a GTI...or a GR86.

Problem is the wife...she can't/won't drive stick (and I'm sure this has come up before).

I considered the CVT WRX, DCT GTI, or a manual GR86 as she won't have any interest in driving that thing...but with 3 kids...I may not either.

Gr86 toy could be fun. Annoying as a dd as often you will have one or more kids with you. Life would be difficult without a dd that can easily move the kids.

I sincerely did not about this club. Thanks for letting me know... Whenever I got my Spitfire or my TR6 sure I gonna hang around... Just got my 07 Cooper S that, well, not that exciting but is one of the best cars I ever had.

A new mini is one of the best cars you have ever had? What stinkers were you stuck with in the past? They are fun for a few years while under warranty but I have never heard an older one described as the best.
 
I recently sold my M3. Have been browsing Kijiji looking at Subaru's as well. Seems like 3/4 of the ads say rebuilt/replaced motor on the older ones (for the STI model anyways) makes me a little nervous. Think I will wait for prices to come back down a bit and get another totally useless 370Z, loved that car. Can't really beat the performance for the money.
