Cycle Mafia scores a win!

An Ontario judge has ruled that Premier Doug Ford’s plan to remove 19 kilometres of protected bike lanes around Toronto is unconstitutional and would not reduce traffic congestion. The Ford government said it will appeal.

The Cycle Mafia somehow convinced the judge that restoring auto lanes and right sizing bicycle lanes would make congestion worse and reduce public safety.

The whole mess distracts from the pathetic standards of driver training and testing, a provincial mandate.

How many years has the province been fiddling around with the construction on the QEW in Mississauga? Want to reduce congestion, get their own projects done... it is jammed everyday, even going against traffic.

Sadly, what is being spent on the bike lanes, fighting the bike lanes, removing the bike lanes there could have been proper bike lanes and car lanes on many of these roads.

Of all the bike lanes that need to go, the ones on University should be on the top of the list. I work in one of the hospitals there and have lost count how many times I’ve seen Ambulances with lights and sirens blaring struggling to get to their next call. Cars now have no where to pull off to free up a lane for emergency vehicles.

The best bike lane on University is right down the middle. Lots of stuff to jump up on to and off of.

Why doesn't Doug let the city decide what they want to do with the city streets. It's a municiple affair.
Ontario elected Doug Ford to take of Provincial matters not focus on his hometown.
ie the traffic on the 401, QEW, 407. The new purposed highway 413 (looks like it's going to mess where is stops/connects on the West side(Mississauga West/Milton Area. Found out late last year the traffic on the 401 from Mississauga to Guelph is terrible. Doug since your a car guy , why don't you get rid of the HOV lane!

The problem is that Chow is the mayor of Downtown Toronto and doesn't care about the suburbs. The suburbs had better representation in the past but amalgamation screwed that. And who cut back the number of city Counsellers?

Whether there are 1 or 100 councillors, if they are wankers detached from reality that focus on special interest groups, the municipality will suck and money will burn at a shocking pace.

this is why judges should be elected and not given life time jobs. Judges should be aware of the will of the people based on their reason for being elected. By having pretty much nothing that will remove you from your job as judge it allows them to go down all sorts of strange paths of thinking and reasoning.

What's funny about that, is she was voted in for the suburbs, by the people in the burbs. (they didn't see it coming this time) As always we get the shaft on city policies and transit.

The way the city implemented the bike lanes is just stupid. It's probably why Doug feels the need to step in.

Should be interesting to see his next move. I don't think he will let this rest. Plus it's a nice distraction from the science centre.

Isn’t that a citizens problem? They voted her in.

As for representation, responsible governance includes fiscal responsibility. The province steps in when municipalities or school boards are reckless with the public purse.

Turns out the move didn’t save mush - the snakes reacted by using the savings to grant themselves raises from $137k to $170k per year.

Not a bad gig. Propaganda suggests they work 60 hours a week, I’m sure a select few do that - but there are also a bunch that have full time gigs and are councellors part time.
