Anyone try to head to Sportbiketrackgear through Sarnia without declaring gear they bought? I was thinking of making a bike trip over the border with a buddy and might swing by STG.

Yeah was considering that. Though my friend wants to buy a helm so I'm not sure what excuse it would be carry a second helm. I plan to squid down and pick up a textile jacket.

So you are going to spend $60 in gas to save $30 on a jacket and best off all come on here and ask how to commit a felony.
All to avoid paying 13% in taxes.
This will be good.
Show me da money I mean movie, pass the popcorn please.
Never mind the fact that if he comes across the right guard they'll seize his bike and charge him as well :lmao: all to save a couple dollas
For the record everyone is recorded at time of crossing both ways. Ive come across guards with waaaaaaaaaay too much time over my years of crossing and my above scenario is not far fetched.
These guys do this for a living and the stories they've told me are unbelievable to say the least.
Thanks for the calling ahead tip. Good point.
And golly better lock me up then. I feel like such a rebel - really! Also, maybe some of you should learn to read carefully![]()
I always declare and be honest. Just over for a couple of hours, have the receipt handy. I got asked to park it once about a year ago after countless crossing before and after. The person at the counter rode themselves. He just asked if it was for me or someone else. They smiled and said it looked like his colleague made a mistake and just charged me the GST I think.
I think getting caught in a lie is far worse then having to potentially pay some duty or tax on some really great discounted purchase. That's just me. I live in London and Sarnia/Port Huron is just a hop.
I have crossed at others places and done the same thing. Just a day trip or a couple of hours, grab a bite to eat, buy some back to school gear for my kids or what ever. Never really have an issue. I just don't chance the duty free with cigs or booze. Seems to work for me ok.

It's spelt paroleAren't you violating sort part of your payroll agreement
+1. It's not worth it. If you get caught, you'll never be able to enjoy perks like Nexus Pass and it's on your record forever. Claim everything, down to the pennies, and have receipts handy.
