Nah, my case has a fan controller on the top. Have enough rad space and the fans generate enough pressure that even at low RPM it does not heat up much under gaming use.
 
My first Pentium system had a 75MHz CPU which I OC'd to 100MHz via jumpers on the mobo... gave it just enough extra oomph to multi-task Winamp and browse the web lol.

Sorry OP, don't have any advice for you since I've been out of the PC building game for a while. Just wanted to share in the nostalgia :)
 
I really like the hardware packages that tonymacx86.com chooses (see http://www.tonymacx86.com/375-building-customac-buyer-s-guide-august-2013.html).
You are not restricted to using a MAC OS either, the hardware is just straight forward and works well.
However if you do use an Intel i5-3570k or and i7-3770K with the built in graphics card it makes using the Mountain Lion OSX very .. very easy (and Apple does not have licence verification like windows).
