Compilation 1 day rides from Toronto

Hi guys,

I moved to Toronto last winter from Montréal and I'm still desperately looking for nice 1 day rides from Toronto. I used to ride on average 1000 km every week-end but I'm so far from that this year it's depresive.

On the Montreal equivalent of GTAM (M4E), someone had built a nice PDF document listing day rides from Montreal. It was a really good starting for any new rider wanting to discover places worthwhile riding and it was built from contribution of fellow members and from posted rides.

I'd be willing to create and compile a similar document with easy one pager for every ride. I could maybe even create the relevant GPS route files in various formats. I just need input to start somewhere...

Anybody want to contribute and make this great reference, please be my guest! I'd be the first one happy to try them all!

Link to the guide (this is an early draft with 1 ride)

I will work on adding the GPS files at a later point...

Try www.motowhere.com

Great routes on there.

FYI my site will be getting an overhaul pretty soon, so that link may go down for a short while.

Having lived in BC and recently done this ride, the amount of stars awarded to the Port Hope route makes me shed a tear :/

PA is a 1000km day ride from Toronto

Likewise, having come from NZ..

Its all relative I guess..

I rode to Hamilton yesterday to check out Snake road cuz I heard it's the business... roughly 1hr ride for 1 minute of twistyish fun.

God damn tho, Dundas is so pretty compared to Waterloo.

Southern Ontario was cursed by british surveyors. Almost everything is a straight line.

LoL true...but what's the point of putting curves in the road if there's nothing to go around?! That's our topography so not much we can do about it. I think there's a thread somewhere here bitching about the roads in Ontario!

Here is a nice little day ride from 404/401 to Port Hope then back to Newcastle along the Lakeshore Rd. Please ignore the 401 part from Newcastle going east and back.... Google maps got screwed up and I didnt know how to fix it. Return trip to Toronto from Newcastle could be a quick scoot down the 401. Sorry for the long URL!

My goal is to try to make sense of all these little bits of roads to make it something that can flow (connecting the dots).

Ike has provided a full loop so I've taken his road as a first example and created a first draft. This is work in progress, open to comments and suggestions.

I've added a link to this guide in the first post and I will keep updating the same link with more rides as time permit and with the contribution from members.
