Chances of being pulled over at the Forks?

With a SS and a quiet aftermarket slip on (Akrapovic)?

Haven't gone there in over a year after the residents threw stuff onto our path, but I've heard tons of OPP roam there pulling bikes over.

Not worth it?

Do one run to make sure that path is clean, then do your own speed going back. Respect the locals and do 40 in town. Yes, OPP usually sits in quite a few spots there, especially on weekends.

yep, not planning on speeding, just going there for scenery. I just don't wanna be pulled over and hassled/ticketed because I have a slip on.

Wear a GoPro. If locals throw anything at you, post up the vid and those "locals" will wake up to an awesome surprise the next morning. Guarantee you I can get 20+ SS bikes off this forum, bouncing off the rev limiter parked in front of their house. Throwing stuff at riders?! That's potentially fatal! The day anyone at the forks throws something off me, I turn around, pick it up, and whip it in their face from 2 feet away. Sh*t like this makes my blood boil.

If you have GoPro video proof, then why not just call popo's and get those people charged with assault or something like that?

what?

This is the second time I've heard of locals at the Forks throwing stuff at riders because they make too much noise. What I'm saying is that if this indeed is happening, something needs to be done about it.

and this is because the riders make too much noise? it has nothing to do with the riders speeding and weaving in and out of traffic?

as someone who has lived near a common road eiyh motorcyclists, tis not the noise that is the issue (with sportbikers), but the speed and general hooliganism.

I didn't see any cops there today, lots of bikes out also...

WTH? Throwing stuff at motorcycles is illegal.
Anybody who does that should be arrested.

It would be hard living in such a beautiful spot if there were bikes going by from sunrise to sunset. Throwing stuff is probably by people who are at their wits end. The solutions at both extremes aren't reasonable: crackdown on bikes vs. free for all. In terms of who has the power in the situation, it costs them nothing to have cops sit there all day and collect revenue for the province.

The main question is how to make it worth the locals while to tolerate bikes and the culture that comes with it. Locals vs. tourists is an issue everywhere, and the most reliable way to resolve it is to make it profitable. Everybody moans about their customers, but the reality is that the forks is getting too popular to be free.

What do people do for a living up there anyway? You'd think some kids would have set up a shop doing detailing and oil changes and some while-u-wait services. Every person who rides through there has $20 or more in their pocket to spend, and it's the locals fault if they can't figure out a way to take it. If the best they can do is let the province collect it in fines, then it's their loss.

The mayor of Belfountain should check out Deals Gap and figure out how to profit from the attention.

stuff like that needs to be reported, its an open legal road, residence dont get to choose who gets to use the road.

We had a guy kick up stones at us on Snake road.
He never, ever did that again. We made sure of that.

There are few people in that area who make any money from those who pass through. The vast majority are residents who make their money elsewhere, then want to go home and enjoy their time off in peace. Many of them have rather substantial incomes, also, and more than a little clot with government and law enforcement. Tolerance isn't something you'll be getting from them.

That would be the #1 reason that I would never live there. It bascially is a property value killer.

And personally, if people wanted to turn my front yard into a race track. It would end fast. Believe me.

I just don't get people. You buy a house by a street with traffic. Why do you complain that there is traffic?
Like the people who bought new houses near the 1/4 mile track at Cayuga.
They bought and then started complaining about noise.
Guess what. There's gonna be noise.
What, did the agent only show them the houses when there were no races?

I was at Forks today and didn't see any cops. I have a hard time seeing them pull bikes over there just because of an aftermarket can, even if it's a loud can.

On the plus side, the speed bumps weren't there today. The roads were damp though. There were also some people taking pictures at the apex of the hairpin which I didn't mind but found a bit distracting nonetheless. Would've been nice if they had removed the tree branch lying right at that corner though.
