Chain Lube suggestions for a long trip

I just want to point out that if you have anyone else around it is a simple matter to have one person lean the bike over on the sidestand to get the rear wheel off the ground and another person to spray on the lube. I do this with my Gal's Gladius all the time.

I don't disagree with this at all, but after the long miles we plan on putting in I want no issues at the end of the day

Not sure what you mean by 2 different spots for advertising, i'm talking about on the order page, you can order either a spool or Axle version

Both are the same price.


I'm sure a piece of wood would be a cheaper alternative but I like the simplicity and portability of that packjack and the other thing jampy posted

It's likely the axle bolt one is longer.
I didn't look that close 1st time 'round.
For me and everyone I know that goes long distance, it's been a piece of wood FTW.

You really should be lubing with very fillup , at least if you want to chain to last more than 30,000 km or so. This will take less than 30 seconds, maybe a minute when you aren't used to doing it. (about 10 seconds with a centerstand.)

Don't disagree with that as well. I am sure we'll find our routine on the road.
 
I tour a lot. A new chain of Dupont is than ample for 5 day trip for 2-3 bikes. If it rains - we lube/clean it more.

The extra jack and stuff just takes more room and time to setup, one person puts the back on its side stand - the second one lubes and cleans - EASY.

Tom, where do you buy that Wurth lube? Is that the only one you'd consider or are there other brands that fit the bill?
 
I know BlueStreak Racing carries Motul products, and they're out that way. Contact them and see if they have it.
 
On long trips I clean the chain with WD 40 and Lube it daily. You'll find tonnes of different opinions on which lube to use so just choose the one you like best. I always go with the smallest can available as storage is at a premium and do it before putting the bike away for the night so the chain is warm and I can make a quick getaway in the morning.

I got 30 or 40,000 out of chains on my katana 1100, and I think I got about the same out of the first chain on my cbr1100xx using the above. I never intentionally clean them ..

My work uses it so it is esy for me to get. I haven't looked at other stuff and rather like what the specs say about it. Last time I was at Ateds shop he mentioned the was a competing product Tom a different manufacturer that was less money but I didn't t need to know so didn't remember it.
