Cardo packtalk battery replacement

After 6 years of use, my cardo packtalk bold won’t hold charge for more than 30 mins.

Internet research tells me that cardo recommends buying a new unit (of course they will)

Some forums mention replacing battery. There was no oem replacement batteries but I do see some knockoffs on Amazon , with mixed reviews.

Has anyone had any luck with it ?

Maybe see if you can take it apart and check to see if there are any marking on the battery that you can throw Into Google search.
 
No experience with Cardo specifically but I've replaced an old Sena headset battery with one from aliexpress. Totally worth the hassle - I'm still using the headset and it must be 10 years old at least.

Like oioioi said, open it first to make sure you CAN replace it and if you can, definitely give those offbrand battery packs a go.

Edit: Did the same with a helmet cam. This stuff is way too expensive to be throwing it out because of a degraded battery.
It's criminal that the original manufacturer doesn't support this officially. They can still make money on the new battery but obviously not as much as a new headset.
 
There should be youtube videos on cracking it open and replacing the battery. I'm on my 2nd aftermarket with my Sena 20 but the unit's over a decade old now.

My old and well-used Sena 20S did the same thing a couple years ago and a friend with the same 20S replaced his battery with one from Amazon so I gave it a shot. Batt was about $20 and it was a 5min change and lasts longer than the oem one did when it was new. Like others said, give YT a shot to see if Cardo batt replacement is similar.

Yup ,ordered parts similar battery from Amazon. Will replace it.

I know I could google search , and I did. I was just looking for a first hand experience on this forum.

One of those plastic car trim pry bar sets can be a big help opening devices that are in a snap together plastic shell without doing too much damage to the shell.
You can look at them as consumables as sometimes a bit of sanding or filing of their edges helps to make them fit just right.

Yes, opened it up already, just waiting for the replacement battery to arrive
