CanadaPost returns my package without attempting delivery!

My wife works from home on a pretty frequent basis, once watched the post guy, cant remember if Canada Post, UPS or ? but she watched him filling out the "Sorry we missed you" slip to stick to the front door as they walked up our driveway.

He had no intention on even trying to deliver the package

can they get it back for you?

Yup, picked it up from the driver at the airport.

You get those types with all companies. 2 different drivers I know work for UPS, one is religious about ensuring he attempts delivery, the other will sit on a side street or industrial area and fill out the "sorry we missed you" slips for residential addresses.

maybe they get measured "per ticket written" like cops :)

Glad the OP figure it out

In Summary:

- All the info on the label was correct, not a seller issue.
- Driver either went to the wrong house (HIGHLY unlikely), or lied due to the storm yesterday.
- Package was on its way back to Mississauga to be sent back to Calgary
- 1-866 number was useless, he didn't even try to help or let me open a ticket.
- @canadapostcares did not help and simply told me what the tracking info said.
- Manager at the main P.O. in town was very helpful after I explained the situation and was (somehow) polite.
- Called the driver and had him pull the package out of the sack that went on the plane.
- Turns out they are able to "re-route" return to sender packages after all.

Of course they went to the wrong house, the drivers don't give a crap if you get the package or not, i bet the guy never left the truck.
Keep raising the rates and lowering the quality of service you pirates, you should be out of business soon.

NTS: Raising hell on social media does jack ****.

Things I learned today: still nothing.

PHONEPHONEPHONE
Nothing works as effective as the phone. If the first person that picks up is of no help, ask for manager/call again/call again/call again.

I've been trying to get them to stop sending me mail for people that don't live here. So far the only answer I got after emailing, Facebooking, and calling was either waste my time to keep sending it back to sender, or do what the delivery guy said which was to just throw them in the garbage. Seems like a bad idea when half of them say Government of Canada on them or have notes like, "Do not dispose!" I tried putting up signs saying to only deliver mail addressed to certain people on my mailbox but they just ignore it.

Also, if it's admail they won't cancel it unless the person that it's addressed to calls them. Which is stupid since I have no idea where any of those people live or who they are. Some of them aren't even addressed to a person but they won't cancel it unless someone by the name of "Resident" calls them to cancel it.

I personally think I should be able to have Canada Post or anyone else that leaves junkmail or mail not addressed to me in my mailbox or on my porch, or on my car for that matter, charged with littering. But my coworkers tell me I'm crazy for that idea.

Long story short, Canada Post doesn't care.

Or go to a real Post Office (not an outlet at Shoppers etc.) and talk to someone. Had I spent more time on the phone the package may well have been gone

Sometimes it does.... we had some issues with our Cogeco service some time back. My wife visited their Facebook site and commented on her frustartions. They promptly contacted her and offered several discounts to our service to retain our patronage :)

Canada post are a bunch of tards....everytime I order something that they ship...they leave me a slip in my mailbox.. I live in a building..and they never bother to ring me from downstairs...or come knock on my door. I've literally caught them walking into the building and leaving he slip in the mailbox saying that they knocked..and no answer. The ofcourse I have to go over to the nearest PO to pick it up.

For some reason UPS/FEDEX/any other company comes to my door and knocks LOUD.

Gotta love Canada Post

Returning to sender usually works though, because it costs the sender money. Takes a bit of time, but eventually it will whittle the mail down to zero.

Just another to add...

Where I live they have not converted to super mailboxes, so we still get mail deliver to the door...

Aside from some other reasons why my mail guy is a 'tard, he once explained to my wife that when he takes vacation , they dont provide him coverage so he has to make up the delivery when he is back. They only provide him coverage if he is off for more then a week. I am sure he must be banking huge vacation time for his retirement

I send a stack of about 20 things back every week. Next week I get all the same ones. Been that way for 2 years now. Half of them I've contacted the companies they are from and, if they agree to stop them (they usually don't, like I said) they still end up sending them.

Church of Scientology seems to really like someone that used to live here.

I've always preferred Canada or usps I wouldn't ship or have anything shipped to me via ups even if someone else was paying for it. They're bar none the worst. In this case I would have gone to where ever your local post office is and asked them wtf. That's usually a much better way to go then some idiot on the phone.

And had you wasted time bitching on a motorcycle forum then it may well have been gone as well. Just as well you devoted your time to recovering your parcel isn't it?

They weren't open when I posted, were they now?

They used to hire a bunch of newbies for the Christmas rush. Not sure if that's still a factor.

Regular mail, not parcels. Canada Post would be committing suicide if they stopped delivering (or attempting to deliver) parcels to the door. I much prefer a community mailbox to at door delivery -- STAY OFF MY LAWN!

Edit #1:
As I went to the Canada Post website to buy a couple dozen stamps before the price goes up, I noticed they posted their plan: http://www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/assets/pdf/aboutus/5_en.pdf

Sounds like a move in the right direction to me since they are losing money -- cut costs, address the much higher wages than the competition problem, and cut the work force through attrition rather than layoffs.

Edit again: now it seems like the denomination free stamps are already removed from the website, so stocking up is pointless -- those bastards!
