Canada post, mec, confusion

I ordered a tent and some other stuff from mec last week. It was my 1st time buying from mec, so I also purchased the mec membership card.

oday I got the card in the mail, but no tent. On the cp tracking page, the tracking number for the tent says succesfully delivered!

I was home at the time of the delivery shown by cp, no one ringd the door bell or anything....

I checked the post offices around me, and got nothing!


Wth Canada post!

Any ideas?

Someone from canadapost just got a new tent!
 
I am surprised they would leave something like that at the front door. I always have my online orders sent to work, as deliveries are done during business hours when I am never home.

It never stops amazing me what CP and other will leave at my door. the hood deflector on my van broke. called the manfacture as it was under warr. They shipped a repacement. come home several days later and find the 6' bright yellow box on my front porch.... I must live in a honest area

Call MEC and say order not received. Let them track it.

This happens, last year I ordered stuff for Christmas from Amazon.com to be delivered to my daughters US address. Web site shows delevered but she didn't have it. called amazon and they resent it after confirming address, asked for them to request a signature but they don't do that. Trouble is that order did the same thing and they refused to send to that address again. Used her friends address and it arrived overnight.

No idea what happened to the first two but do I care... came the third time.

MEC has a good reputation. I had a friend, she was hiking through Austria for a month in a pair of boots she bought from MEC. They were nothing but a pain for her the entire time and just not a good boot. She brought them back to MEC and got a full refund... on a pair of boots used for hiking for a month!

I am one of those 'others' as I work as a courier for one of the 'big boys'. We release deliveries to the door of houses all the time as a regular practice. If we didn't, there's absolutely no way we'd get our routes done and packages would back up daily.

Very few people are home during business hours. If you aren't planning on being home for delivery, get your package shipped to your business address (we don't release to businesses nor do any other couriers I know of)

and keep in mind, all shipments are insured with us so there really is no risk to the customer. If the shipment is high value, the common sense thing to do would be to have it shipped signature required.

Card and tent were shipped seperately (obviously). It's also possible that they did ring the doorbell or knock. I've had customers complain I didn't ring/knock when I did and they were asleep, shower, downstairs etc. and didn't hear it.


one of three things happened

1) It was delivered and someone in your household received it and didn't tell you (this happens alot more than people realise)

2) It was misdelivered to a neighbour (21 instead of 22) or a similiar street name ie. McGill Ave, McGill Dr. (this happens often as well), sometimes its courier error sometimes it's shipper error.

3) It went missing at the terminal or on route (this rarely happens but is possible)


Call CPost and file a disputed delivery claim and don't take their **** ;) Keep in mind they're probably going on strike so maybe the carriers are trying to screw it to the company.
