Canada Post - Huge losses

As expected, union is smoking crack. The answer for everything is more public sector employees. Why not focus on productivity/value as the most important metric?

PS unions are the devil. They leech off both sides and we are rapidly approaching the point where they kill the host. Hopefully an implosion at CP puts the fear of God in the rest of them.

"Given the seriousness of the matter, it is reprehensible to keep workers and the public on edge when we should all be focused on negotiating good collective agreements that will benefit workers and grow our public service to meet the needs of all Canadians,” it added"

They still haven't budge on the double time for weekend deliveries.

"They have also ignored our offer to use existing collective agreement language to allow for weekend delivery"

Exactly. Our offer that is the most expensive possible option when the company is facing bankruptcy. Thanks for your help. I'm glad we are having fruitful negotiations.

Pretty sure CP employs like 60k+ people. No sitting government is gonna take that political hit.
I think they would. It’s not like a part of gov that goes away, the work still needs to get done, so at least 1/2 of those employees would get picked up by whomever picks up their volume.

We shall see! My train of thought was job loss = voters.

On a related note, cbc says they will no longer pay bonuses as they keep making the news and cause bad optics. They will add the previous bonuses to salary and they are therefore guaranteed. Libs will transfer infinite taxpayer dollars. No reason to run an efficient operation.

The CBC has been receiving more or less the same amount of money +/- 10% for a very long time, including during the last conservative government.

I trust everyone is equally upset about when Harper approved the money back then? $946 million in 2005-2006, $1.1B 2011/12, back to the mid 900’s late in his term.

Today’s numbers are not spectacularly far off of Harper’s despite being a decade+ later.

Before being pushed out Jt added ~1B. Carney added $150M during election. Not sure if either of those are reality or just political lies.
