Can-Am Spyder...a motorcycle?

You neither get the lean nor kneedragging experience you do from a bike nor the performance or even the practicality or an entry level sports car. It's a summer toy for the folks who want to take the risk out of riding on two wheels.

And you've spent how many hours on a Roadster SuperSport? (RSS)

You have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to that vehicle. Stick to what you know, rather then purport a level of comprehension far outside of your grasp. (Directed to those who blatenly dismiss the Spyder when they don't know anything about it aside from what another posted as a comment) *Edited as I did not intend on insulting TomC*

As I noted earlier, aside from a SS Bike; the RSS is faster then most other bikes and cars on the street.

Stock, the can-am Spyder RT (Roadster Touring) Not to be compared (For more "Mature" riders. AKA Old Folks (Much Bigger. Looks like a transformer))
Stock, the can-Am Spyder RS (Roadster Sport) will go from 0-100KM in 4.5 Seconds
Stock, the can-Am spyder RSS (Roadster SuperSport) will go from 0-100KM in 4.2 Seconds

Add a JBP Fuel Controller, Performance Exhaust, K&N Filters (one up) to an RSS and you are pushing just under 4 seconds for 0-100KM
Unique to the Spyder in this case, Less wheelspin, wheelie, and especially shifting skill (if the Spyder is equipped wiht a Semi Automatic Transmission *There is no "Automatic Version of the Can-am Spyder"*).

I know what a newer model Stock GXR600 will do. I'd say the Spyder RSS is tad faster then an Entry level sports car

did you even read the last line in my previous post? it means i admit to having never ridden one and its basically an observer's opinion.

i'd still take a used miata over this thing. not trying to break your balls.

read the last line in my previous post.

I had caught that.

Sorry for coming across sternly.

It was for those who repeat the same sediment. "It's slow. It's for Old People. Those who are scared of two wheels."
Just trying to provide some factual information to other riders out there who are interested in the vehicle.

It's a MotorTRIKE....not a MotorBike. Nuff said IMO.

Personally I think it's a cool concept and hope it does well. I would love to get one for touring with the gf (way more comfortable than a bike I'm sure) but for the price it's going for...well it's just too expensive for a toy for me as I don't see it replacing the car anytime soon.

I like them, having options in forms of transportation is a great thing.

I saw this at the motorcycle show last year and I really wanted to try one. Does anyone know if they have demo days for the Spyder?

It seems like most people are bashing the Spyder, but I think it looks pretty cool. You're still exposed to the elements as you would be on a motorcycle, and that's half the thrill.

Hey Mahnoy. SnowCityCycle usually has a April BRP Day in which they bring in a few models. Best to check their site next month and check their Dealership Events.
That's where I bought mine last year.

Much better experience with them as compared to when I bought my previous bike at cycle World on Sheppard. Oh the horror that was. :<

Feel free to ask me any questions about them.
Derek

Kinda surprised no one mentioned the Piaggio MP3 500 in this thread (aka Gilera Fuoco outside N.A).

I have to admit- i bought mine almost entirely based on me thinking it looks really unique and a little futuristic...better braking and traction in corners is a bonus but not why i chose to buy it.
The bike leans in turns, and feels sort of front-heavy while riding. You can feel the grip of the extra front wheel. It is 500 cc, gets about 55-60 mpg, weighs almost 600lbs and it can fall over as easily as a 'normal' bike if you aren't careful (don't ask how i know that).
The front wheel suspension can lock with a button push- great for parking-- and disengages automatically at 2000rpm. i prefer to manually unlock it before i start moving though.

Sort of a middle ground between a Can Am and a sport/touring bike.

Problem- They are getting pretty scare here since Piaggio stopped importing them to North America last year.

.

What a pointless contraption. At least most can see the "appeal" of the Spyder, ie. not putting you feet down every stop.
