What's up with this weather!?!??!

All day it's nice and sunny and as it gets closer to going home time, it turns cloudy and windy and rainy....

P.S. I was out of town last week. Didn't get any riding done :(

Awwww damn... This is what I don't like about having bikes parked next to me. If those bikes aren't yours maybe you should leave a note with a plate number for the kawi dude... just in case.

Yep, left him a note. My right mirror broke off, seat cowl is deeply scraped, and it bent his left signal. Said I'll pay for the replacement if it needs it. That's my duc, so I'm lucky he did park there, otherwise it would have hit the ground. Replacing his signal will be much cheaper than what it could have been...

How strong does a gust of wind have to be to knock a bike over? 40 km/hr? 50 km/hr? a buick?

Good question. My other theory is that someone knocked/pushed it over. I have marks on the left side of the bike that I don't remember being there (scrapes on my mirror and bar end). I dunno...

Bikes do get blown over by wind and some sit higher on the stand than others which doesn't help but yeah, there's a good chance that someone hit it.

Someone hit it i think. It's windy today but not super windy, weather channel shows average 30km, but i know that gusts around buildings often get much higher, but still.. to blow it over from leaning on it's left side on the stand all the way over to the other side? seems unlikely unless the bike is super light. Good thing there were those bikes beside you although i'm sure the other guy isn't thinking that right now :(

Go and get a police report. Tell them that it is a hit and run and someone knocked your bike over. Otherwise, if the other bike that you tipped into doesn't like you and files a claim it 'could' come back to you. It's unlikely that this will be an issue but for the few mins that it takes to file a hit and run report it's worth it. You don't want to get a call from your insurer asking about the damage you caused to someone elses bike.

Well at least he did an honourable thing by leaving a note, telling the owner his bike did the damage and all.

Not many people around that would do that anymore.

+1
You'd be surprised how many hit and run claims I deal with. It's sad.

I've sent you a PM Wasted, hope you can answer a couple questions

In addition to the PM that I sent you I've had another thought and thought I'd post it up as it might be helpful to someone else. Typically in a hit and run situation it is a not at fault accident BUT your collision deductible (usually $500) applies. However, in this situation because your bike tipped into another bike you can claim hit and run but have your deductible waived as it meets DCPD criteria. In order for a deductible to be waived in Ontario an accident needs to have happened in Ontario and involve at least one other vehicle that is insured in Ontario or is insured outisde of Ontario with a company that is signatory. SOoooooo, if the other guy calls you and has valid insurance and you both have a CRC report that says your bike was knocked over and pushed into his bike you could both file a Not At Fault $0 deductible claim.

So I got a partial confession, guy with a Daymak electric bike showed up as I was waiting for the Kawi owner, admitted his bike fell over but that "they weren't touching" (no **** Sherlock, it pushed mine out of the way). While I was telling him that in fact he was responsible and showing him the damage he basically rode off.
