How would Snowcat fry his ECU's or be responsible for frying his ECU? He was literally a turn key and go guy back then...he did nothing to the bike, no mods. Here he is fresh after picking up his second one after Ducati bought back the first one after spending $20,000 on warranty on the first one. Also a guy from India, fighter pilot, same issues as Snowcat only he didn't have the one million subs to move Ducati's stock like Snowcat did.

How am I supposed to know what these morons have done to their bikes? You realize that with a CANBUS system, any electronic changes (even bulbs which aren't CANBUS compatible) can mess up the ECU. Do the guys who have problems know that? Look at the 4th video - WTF are those buttons wired into the left bar? I never had a single problem with mine for 6 years and 30,000 kms, but within a year of selling it the new owner kills the ECU. Snowcat kills two completely different bikes in a row. Look at all the stuff Ducati replaced multiple ECU's, dash, wiring harness, completely new bike - so it can't be any of that stuff. If it was an inherent design problem, ALL bikes would have this behaviour.

@-Maverick- I will give you this - most Ducati dealerships (and I content most other brands as well) don't know how to properly service their own vehicles without messing something up, never mind diagnose and fix a seemingly complex problem.
Someone posted a video of some dude with an oil leak on his brand new Panigale V4 SP2 and chose to fix it himself rather than take it back under warranty. I'd honestly have to think twice about bringing it in if it was something I knew was a simple fix that I could do myself in a few days vs. handing it over for who knows how long and rolling the dice that it didn't come back with some other problem.

I've owned a few Ducs, the only mods I've ever done to them are factory pipe+chip, ergos like levers and pegs, and some aesthetics like open clutch cover and CF huggers and bits and bobs.
They haven't been any more troublesome than any other motorcycle I've owned. Less, now that I think about it.
Just my experience...
And yes, I do have the Hyper 950 referenced above as well. Put 7K on it last season, no problems.

Snowcat's second bike is off the showroom floor bone stock. You see him picking it up at the dealership...then off to California he went where it ended up in a dealership in Beverly Hills.
The Indian fighter pilot bike is bone stock bike. Same Snowcat story.
The new 950 I posted is a bone stock bike. Same Snowcat story ten years later.
Ducati knows the coils are sending a voltage spike through the harness, yet fail to address the problem. Why? Some guys have had luck with putting RSV4 coils on them.
Your own bike has a fried ECU. You lucked out before it happened. Yet you defend this company.
Mark my words and this post. I predict this stalling issue will trigger a lawsuit:
This company is crap. Don't give them your money! The Hypermotard should have been recalled, a team of engineers put on it 24/7 until a fix was found and not another one sold until it started, ran, and didn't have owner's hiring attorneys. I don't know how they get away with this...it's a safety issue when your bike decides not to run on the highway.

I think in ontario the number of piagio/guzzi dealers is the same as ducati
In any event, I havent heard any guzzi owners complain about the lack of parts so
Owned 4 Ducati's and never had a problem that i couldn't fix myself. Never been stranded. The only problems that my friends in the docc have had were problems they brought into themselves.

We were talking about fried ECU's. But if you want to talk about plastic tanks, that's not just a Ducati issue - it's a problem with any manufacturer who uses a tank with tight tolerances and/or painted surfaces because those tanks don't react well to water that accumulates with ethanol fuel. Know what other tanks don't like water? Steel ones, they just rust from the inside instead of swelling.

I'm not wasting any more time on that guy's videos just to find that what you said isn't exactly true (again). All I know is Ducati has been a great brand for me. I haven't looked back since my first 748 in 2001, and before that bike I never owned anything longer than a year or two. I've had my 998 since 2007. Every brand or model worth riding has issues, so if I based my buying decision solely on what COULD happen, I'd be using public transit. My 2001 M3 has 300,000 kms - no rod bearing issues, not VANOS issues, no subframe issues. My 2007 SXV has close to 30,000 kms - original orange sealant, no rebuilds, starts the way it was designed. My 2002 998 has over 60,000 kms and has been awesome. 2015 Hyperstrada we;ve discussed. I never worried about any of these letting me down, even when riding them into the middle of nowhere.
