Preamble: This list was started in 2002 when I got into the bike scene. Everyone had their own person to call, and no one shared their list and therefore didn't know who to contact to get a better rate. I believe this is the most complete list for southern ontario insurance companies at the time. Enjoy. For updates, reply to the thread or send a private message.

(old thread: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=1052)

*** WARNING: Insurance fraud is common!
Don't be an idiot: Don't give up your hard earned cash to someone without knowing if they're legitimate. ALL BROKERS HAVE AN OFFICE - DON'T MEET THEM IN A PARKING LOT AND PAY CASH! If you're dealing with a broker, make sure they are legit by searching RIBO (Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario) list by clicking the following link: http://www.ribo.com/co_license.cfm (I've also been informed by a few brokers that they'll have some kind of plaque saying they're valid members)

Online Quotes: All online quote systems are inaccurate, and just don't work for bikes - Don't waste your time with them. Call the company direct - it'll be faster and less headaches for you.

General notes about the list below:
- "License restrictions" usually means they won't insure you if you haven't had your license for a few years.
- "Bike restrictions" - if you're looking at a highend sport bike, they might not cover it.
- "Area restrictions" - They only do certain areas of Southern Ontario.

-- Agents of companies
I list these separately so that you realize it's an individual office, but not actually the insurance company. It's complicated, so ask them to explain their relationship with the Insurance Company they represent.

-- Companies that sell through agents/brokers only (Ie: Not direct to you)
These are the actual insurance companies that do the policies - this is more of an informational listing - you need to find a broker that deals with them.

State Farm only looks at the engine displacement and afik they don't care about your age or rider training. License class has little or nothing to do with your insurance rates.

Does anybody have any experience with combined insurance rates?

I'm buying a house in July ... and both my car and bike insurance are up for a renewal in the same month. Currently, Car is with Belair and Bike is with Kingsway.

I know there will be SOME benefit with combining insurance ... I'm just trying to get some real-world figures that current members are paying.

23 Male (will be 24 @ renewal)
250K House in Guelph
2000 Ninja 500R
2000 Honda Civic

Any companies that offer deep discounts for giving them full business? (My first guess would be State Farm)

hmm.. duffy's quote was higher than state farm for me.

what are your specs?

53 male clean record 2000 vfr full coverage. Ive gotten quotes for R1's & gixxers that are crazy expensive. Always wonder how the younger crowd can afford insurance if they are quoting an old fart like me these rates on pure sportbikes.

With State Farm, 32 years old, married, clean record on G license, M2 for only few months, (had to take the test again, previous one expired) all for $1260 per year full coverage 500 ded for 2007 R6

State Farm was the cheapest i could find. TD was the highest with $3900.

Does anyone know an insurance company that will insure me for a good price?....
statefarm quoted me for $2,030,
TD for $12,000 (this is not a typo)

21 year old male
single
G licence, no history of accidents/tickets
just took my course to get my m2
don't have 5 years driving experience (statefarm never asked me about 5 years driving experience)
2001 CBR 600 f4i

I've heard horror stories about people getting a call back 3 weeks later from statefarm stating they would no longer insure them without 5 yrs driving experience. Anyone have experiences with this?

I was a sucker to that. I went to a statefarm agent in pickering and bought a policy for an 86 FZ600 on April 20. They then sent me a letter about a month later saying that I didn't have full 5 years driving experience and that i'm insured only until mid-june. the thing that ****** me off is that i would of had 5 years driving experience in august and ontop they charged me for 3 months full months plus some stupid fee for being cancelled early.

Called Sabrina and Paula from State Farm, they were very helpful but State Farm sucks if you're a under-25 new rider without a car.

2001 Kawasaki Ninja 500
200k Basic Coverage: $2228
500k Basic Coverage: $2590
1M Basic Coverage: $2869

It doesn't matter that I'll be needing home insurance since they only care about insuring your car. So far JD Smith's $2173 for 1M Basic is still the best quote.

Who did you call (at State Farm) to even get that? I called Sabrina, Paula, Erin and they all quoted my $2800.
I'm 23 male, G license, clean history I have 5 years driving exp, M1 April and did the course so M2 in June.
2001 Kawasaki Ninja 500R, no car and State Farm is asking for $2800 liability only.
The best I've found is JD Smith 2173 for 1 payment or 3% more for 4, or Duffy for $2233.

Just called Leane from State Farm (in the Beaches) and they wouldn't insure me without 5yrs car driving. They also told me they were pretty well at their limit for motorcycles anyway and I should try elsewhere ...

I'm still on the hunt.
