I was down there last family day weekend. Left Friday night arrived Saturday noon (overslept in PA truckstop), too tired to to ride Saturday and did some work on my other bike.
Saturday they have a snow storm warning and it was raining the whole day of Sunday. Only able to ride on Monday from 11 to 5 pm.

Big storms went thru tues nite when i arrived.Wed was calm and dry, temps in the low 70's till about 3:00pm.I did the dragon twice and then did the Cherahola Skyway. It was wet, dry, foggy, cold and then warm again later on.I did Hwy28 later and it was fine, just cool at about 60 deg.My buddy John and I did Caeser Head Mtn thursday.Waaaaaay more fun the tourist trap dragon. There are a lot of good roads down there!

It's weird to ride around with him all day knowing he has a 9mm in his pocket.

It's the hollow points that were scary....if he was in AZ he could get one of these for his ram mount...

or maybe he is more traditional....

The hollow points are scarey? When the trigger is pulled, does it matter?
Here's a tour of my friends place.Directly behind it is the waterfall (Hickory Nut Falls)from the movie "Last of the Mohicans" It's 400ft high, and the base is about 1,000ft from his creek.

Americans love their guns.....that's why when I am down there I don't piss off the natives, you never know, seems like everyone has gun.

As far as the hollow points, you tell me, in this video the targets are bottles of frozen water...

A bit off topic here.So the first one is dead. And the second one is deader?

First one can be a deterrent, which is why I assume your friend carries, the second is only for lethal force...

Besides, what about the children........and the kittys....

When I was in South Carolina, Caesar's Head was about 30 minutes from me; I agree way better than the gap. I can't figure out why the gap has such a stellar rep with riders; there are so many better roads I have ridden than the gap.

Absolutely! Tatham Gap rocks!

It's the marketing. How many riders hear about Deal's Gap? Add in the status a little dragon sticker gives you at Tim Horton's, and everyone else wants to get their own sticker and t-shirt. :P

The last time I went down to the Gap and rode the Dragon, I had a good time. Am I the only one? I tried to explore the area too, I can definitely believe there are other good roads there, but the Gap was still worthwhile. I was there in the middle of the week, maybe that's why.

So, other places to check out next time:
-Thatham Gap
-Chimney Rock
-Caesar's Head

Are you also saying the surrounding roads are better at Caesar's Head than Deal's Gap?
