Already the full moon - be careful out there

Every bridge we went under I was drolling over your sound lol

:D
hiahiahiahiahia...

sorry for hijacking the thread. and back onto the topic, given there are so many crazies out there, making yourself loud enough is definitely one more protection that you can have... as long as you grow a thick face to shield your neighbours' complaints...

So what exactly did you "wish" to somebody else to happen? Whatever person does wrong, wishing them something like that is, well, dumb. I do not condone that guy's behaviour, but you personally have never ever done anything wrong or stupid on the road? You never cut anyone off? Please tell us, mister perfect driver/rider. I am really happy that the OP is OK, and his point is very valid that there are tons of morons on the road, but wishing them all to be killed by an 18-wheeler is kind of an over-reaction, don't you think?

Here, let me quote, and even highlight what i wrote previously. Maybe the third time you will understand...

BTW you're not comparing apples to apples here. No one in their right mind would want a family member hurt, be it their fault or not.

However i didn't wish this guy death or injury. But judging by his lack of skills and ****** attitude after the fact it will take something drastic to change the way he drives. Id simply prefer he runs into something bigger, where the other driver wouldn't sustain injury like a car or motorcycle, his insurance goes up, gets a nice careless driving ticket and hopefully any future carnage is prevented.
The same way id prefer a drunk driver meets a cement bridge support over a minivan with a family inside it.

Is that clear enough?

you just need to go Chuck Norris on their *** ...

starts with some minor mods to your bike and some attitude!

Some weelies deflect bullets!

If you live in TDOT you guys have a new stunting defense

Here we go with the loud pipes save lives argument again. I hope you wear hi-viz gear to be noticed as well. Otherwise, just admit that you like the sound of an aftermarket pipe.......no need to try to use safety as justification.;)

LOL! guilty... well... alright, but you will have to admit that safety comes as a nice bonus lol!

Don't fool yourself. Other than the potential side swipe from a driver right beside you that changes lanes without checking loud pipes do NOTHING for your safety. And even the side swipe can more effectively be avoided by riding defensively/assertively - i.e. don't be beside someone for more than a second or two and watch for hints they're going to change lanes.

And, for really loud pipes, you can make the argument that they're more dangerous as they may incite road rage. I used to have a CBX with 6 into 6 straight pipes. The thing screamed like an insane banshee at her time of the month and the wine she ordered was not of the appropriate vintage and temperature and the flowers were wilting. And she was angry. Really angry. And with a bad attitude. Anyway, my point being that when I passed people on the highway, once they got over their momentary heart failure, more than one macho man wanted to try to kill me. So, beware.

LMFAO! Good point! Never thought about it from this angle! I could see that really loud pipes provoke some redneck drivers to race you on the road. Luckily I don't think my pipe is too loud to that point :D!

Griffin. Did your CBX sound like this?

Yes but louder and angrier. That's a 6 into 1 pipe. The 6 into 6 was more snarly.

good find though. brings back memories...

That must have really made your neighbors happy in the morning! LoL I have a stock exhaust as I'm quite happy keeping my neighbors sleeping and not pissing them off each morning.
Do pipes really make a safety difference? Every time I'm driving and a guy with a loud exhaust passes me I hear him AFTER he passes....

The bike came to me with the pipes. I'd coast into my driveway and even riding in any residential area I'd short shift to keep the revs down. I didn't have them long.

The only time I ever noticed a potential for increased awareness of drivers around me was if I was moving up slowly beside them. As you noted, basically no one ever heard me until I was passing them and then it scared them.

I def agree with the coasting...when I was looking for a bike I was ready to buy a sweet KLX250 but the pipe on it turned me right off. I'd have to push it out to the street not to piss off the neighbors! LoL sounded good...but...I'm sure loud pipes get tiring over long distances.

Speaking of full moon drivers.
today at about 6pm, going south on dufferin, right at the new underpass. I'm in the left lane few cars back. there's a bus in the right, being a bus, you know. It's a RED. everyone is full stop. Asian guy 10 cars back decides he's tired of waiting. Lane splits his minivan all the way to the front. squeeling, near missing each car as he goes.

I mean, it was a mini van lane splitting... I couldn't decide if he was the worst or best driver I've seen lately.

I believe brainless is pulling in front of someone without checking if the way is free.
The way i look at it better the person who committed the stupid act get hurt than an innocent person. But hey, thats just my opinion.

But i guess in today's society responsibility is an unknown word, and nothing is ever anyone's fault.

yes +1, nicely said.

I think this has been posted before, but it seemed valid to post it again lol:

Jokes aside though, too bat there wasn't a cop around to take that driver's license away.

This dimwit cut me off on Eglinton and Kennedy going west, though i honked several times(i need better horn) the guy didnt even apologise or make an attempt to make it right. I changed lanes, and moved right in front of him and slowed down, didnt let him go anywhere until he just turned in a side street to avoid me. Yeah I got to work 5 minutes late, but it was well worth it.

Ha ha. I would put my money on the former. This guy is right up there with most drivers in Brampton. Ignorance and arrogance is an extremely volatile cocktail and seldom does one exist without the other.
