I remember the days when people would dress in suits to fly, it was like a function of some sort.

Yeah... These days you're more likely to see people wearing their pyjamas or if you're on a flight with higher class folks... Sweats with "JUICY" written on the backside..

How did you get access to star Alliance?

My Travel agent back home set it up for me. It was an open 12 month ticket with points along the way that I could change if needed eg: I wanted to stay an extra week or two in a particular country or city. Departure and arrivals didnt have to be in the same city or country either. So I could fly into say Amsterdam on June 10th then my next flight could be out of Brussels on July 20th. gave me a chance to take land transport like the bullet trains and see some of the places in-between the major cities etc.

In the entire 12 months the Air Canada flight was the only one that was overbooked/delayed. Best Airline experience was on Singapore Airlines from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur.
