I don't think HAM radio is really about talking to people.
It's more about filling your desk space with hardware, computer screens and blinky lights while at the same time pissing off the wife by setting up huge antennas on the property...
I mean whenever I'm over there and a human voice appears over the system it's usually greeted with a loud.. "STFU!" from my HAM buddy... Lol.

I ended up getting a built in communicator on my Schuberth. The price from Europe was less than the helmet and communicator here. At that time, you couldn’t buy a European Shoei. Now you can’t buy a Schuberth from them either.

If you don’t really need comms aside from “I need to pee/drink/eat/get gas“, back in the days before intercom we went with basically “pull up behind me and beep your horn until I acknowledge“ as the universal signal forl “stop at the next gas station please“.

I thought it was pull up beside and point to the tank. Been working for me.
