Huh? new bike?
No, sir. It was Triumph’s demo day, and the phototag was nearby-ish, so that’s where I ended up heading.

I really like the look of the Bobber, and since I’d never ridden that kind of bike before, I thought it was the perfect chance to try one out.

I was there on Friday. I also tried the Bobber and the regular Bonnie. The Bobber would be an (expensive) toy; too many compromises. You kinda feel cool riding it though. The regular Bonnie is just nice, maybe too plain vanilla nice.

It’s completely different from my current ride. The torque curve sits much lower in the rev range compared to the V4. It’s strange because despite having almost 100 hp less than the Multi, going 70 km/h somehow felt faster than on my bike. Maybe it has to do with the lack of wind protection or the less plush suspension components.

Turning was a thing on its own. I don’t really have the words to explain it, but the bike felt more reluctant to turn, almost like it wanted to stay upright.

The control triangle wasn’t particularly comfortable either. The bars were a tad too far forward for my liking. Forward controls/pegs were also a first for me. I kept instinctively trying to hug the tank with my knees, but I couldn’t really do that since the bike seems to want you seated with your legs spread more open because of the peg and engine position (hence the groin discomfort.)

Despite all that, the looks and sound are killer. I’m glad I had the chance to ride it and realize it’s probably not for me.

That said, I think the Bonnies generally sound really good even with the stock exhaust, which honestly makes me consider adding a regular Bonnie as a future commuter.
