2025 Day Trips!

LOL. Just yesterday, I ended up in a ditch on Lavant Road. It was partly due to my lack of skill in riding on gravel and the Duc's ABS going crazy because of the gravel.

I decided to include this road in my latest road trip because, two or three years ago, I absolutely fell in love with it.
Hope it was nothing to serious.

I was on S Lavant Rd mid-morning Sunday so I'm guessing this happened after? Manage to ride it back home?

I've always found Ardoch Road colours turn a bit sooner than other places. Maybe it's the type of tree's with all the silver and reds but I love that road in the Fall.
I was up here the second weekend in Aug and it was like +40 with humidex, full on fire ban, then a week or two after I was getting weather alerts for this area for frost warnings, so that definitely messed things up here.

Hope you're ok

I'm ok. Thanks for asking. I was there around 3 pm on Sunday.

Hope you managed to keep the bike upright or at least were going very slow because of the gravel.
I think I got pretty lucky. The spot where I went off was just a soft mix of sand/dirt/mud (not sure which), and there wasn’t much of an elevation drop between the road and the ditch.

I kept the bike upright until it was already in the ditch, then just let it fall over as “gently” as I could. After making sure I was fine, I killed the engine and somehow managed to lift the bike back up. It even stayed upright without the kickstand, which makes me think the ground was mud or loose dirt. After three or four tries, I got it out of the ditch on my own—but my left arm was cooked for the rest of the day. For a naked, the M1200 is a porky girl.

I didn’t think to give the bike a full check right there, but nothing major seems to have happened. No leaks, fired up on the first crank, and it felt totally normal riding afterward. So I’m guessing I scrubbed off most of my speed before leaving the road.

Basically: stupid ABS—‘You’ve locked the front!’ … me: no, I didn’t … ABS: yes, you did … me: well, now I have lost traction, thanks to you pulsing the brakes nonstop

Can you turn the abs off, or is it an always on type of thing?
Not sure at the moment, but good point—I’ll check it out.

Beautiful ride up to Wasaga today. Minimal traffic, beautiful weather and outside of my brake issue (tech section) and being an idiot and forgetting to check my air pressure (thanks for the pump @PacoT no issues really.

Broke off from @Wind Shear at the General Store on Hockley and he went his way and I kept going north.

Made a mistake passing and didn’t see a car ahead of a truck start a left turn so was able to stop in time but felt like an idiot.

Bike looks good though…

We were in Hockley too sitting at a back picnic table ... thought I saw that bike. You came into the back and then turned around and went back to the front. Was a BUSY place there.

That's nice pic btw, I'd use it as your main ad shot.

Ya that was us! It was super busy there, I've actually never seen it. So maybe you saw me and @Wind Shear looking at my rear brake pedal for huge play.

Nice Ferrari meetup too up front!

I'll take a similar pic soon but without all the 'clutter' on the bike. I used iPhone portrait mode and it just so crisp. I should remove the case for more photos.
