2016 ZX10R has arrived

Seems low. My 78HP 1991 Toyota Tercel would do 170 or so. Thing was terrifying at those speeds but it would still do it. My 90HP diesel Jetta hit 200 indicated, once. Tried to get there again but couldn't get past 198.

What will the Porsche do though?

Never maxed it out but I suspect it could hit at least 200. It's only 150hp.

My 1997 Saab 900se turbo would do 170 in 3rd. Started smelling like oil at high RPM. Supposedly tops out around 245.

Never tested my 2009 WRX but I read it topped at 250 or so.

No idea on the Outlander but it starts running out of steam around 155.

Since you asked I decided to give a detailed answer lol.

Edit: Odd thing about exceeding 200 (it was actually 205 indicated) in the Jetta TDI was that it was by accident in rush hour on the 401 (had 2 hrs to get from Pearson to Guelph and back to downtown Toronto to catch an Air Farce filming). The next time I tried was for an OBD class in college. We wanted to see if the prof would comment if we handed in a speed log showing over 200. That was on the 401 near Kitchener but we kept running out of road.

Of course this was over a decade ago when I was young and dumb. Back then cruise control was at 150 before the on ramp ended. Now I try not to get anywhere near HTA172.

Let's just say I know my way around Hyundai Accents. This Kawasaki, or even last generation ZX10, should rip the doors clean off it. Let the good times roll.

I know eh...I think I will do 100k on the 250 before I retire her, currently at 92k. So looks like next year is new bike year but I'm torn between a SS and naked. I was actually looking at the S1000R when I came across this. If I go Kawi, probably the Z1000 all black. If SS most likely 636.

Holyshit, did you put that many miles yourself?

Tell me, whats your maintenance so far for the bike?
Btw, i would jump on zx10r and skipp the 636.... you know you will keep thinking of the 1000cc bike until you get one anyway lol

yes sir!! Picked up the bike with 0.6 km June 2009. As far as mechanical stuff goes its been bulletproof. Regular oil changes with Motul 5100 at 5k and some valve work at 30k km. It was entirely my fault, I attempted a valve adjustment not fully knowing what the hell I was doing. I either cranked it the wrong way when lining up top dead center or messed up when resetting the CCT. Either way it started ticking LOUD when I started it, I was lucky and Kawi took care of it under warranty. Had a valve check and adjustment at 65k, will do next one when I roll 100k. I had head bearing replaced a little while back, stiffer fork springs and heavier oil. I'd say she rides better now than when new. Screams like a baaaad ***** with an Akrapovic too, ergonomics are modified to as aggressive as they can be and I will likely put an Ohlins in the rear as a final retirement present and then have her as a track beater.

Other than consumables and fluids its still on the original battery without ever having been removed, tendered or winterized, I shimmed the carbs early on and they have never given me a problem, it still starts and idles like a champ. I ride it like a maniac and she still keeps up good, takes about a cup of oil between changes but I can't blame it considering how I ride...anyone who has ridden with me knows, its pretty much balls to the wall high rpm's for extended periods of time. That's why I have so much appreciation for this bike, we've been though so many situations and its never let me down and I'd ****in ride to war on the thing.

Never have I felt ashamed of being on a 250 or that I can't go on a ride and have fun like a lot of people seem to, I guess that's one of the main reasons I've lasted so long on it.
