Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Our overgrown hedge is down and all cleared away. A fence guy is coming tonight to make a proposal. We get along with our neighbours but also respect privacy. Having the space so open makes it brighter but we both feel a privacy fence is a good thing. The city says a max of 2 meters, 6'-6"...

So I tried motocamping for the first time...

A friend's wife HATES anything that involves a tent. When she was a kid her parents drove to visit relatives in B.C. To save money they pitched a tent every night and broke camp every morning. This was when the Trans Canada highway was in its infancy. I call that tenting. Camping is enjoying...

    E bikes rampaging Toronto streets

As much as I like his tone there's a ton of difficult legislation to make some of it happen.

    Not worth the risk

Many years ago at an OPP M/C safety seminar we were warned about country roads. The locals get used to thin traffic and tend to ignore stop (Slight Tap On Pedal) signs and in particular, cutting across intersections and into opposing lanes.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

My mother's place, north of Barrie, was the same. If you dumped a five gallon pail of water on the lawn it disappeared, barely slowing down.

    Not worth the risk

See if you can get listed on someone else's policy. It keeps the history alive if you can afford it. They don't have to let you use the vehicle.

    Toronto neighbourhoods

Toronto has given every neighbourhood a cutesy name. Instead of living on Wright Ave they spent a bunch of money adding a Roncesvalles Village sign to the poles. There's also Greek Town, Little Portugal, Little Italy, The Beach, Chinatown and more. Ours is Markland Wood.

    Toronto neighbourhoods

They've announced a local safety meeting to deal with road issues in our area. I like where I live but brain washing has taken its toll. The area has its cutesy name and while a tiny bit upscale it isn't Rosedale, Forest Hill or Bayview and the Bridal Path. Too many residents have copped the...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Lawns, the scourge of the working man. Originally they were meant as a sign of wealth. You had so much land that you could waste it by growing the most useless plant on the planet. Lawns use too much water, herbicides, insecticides and time. You didn't have to grow cabbages and turnips in the...

    Did you exercise today?

Weight, health and mental status are different for different people. A lot depends on how your brain is wired and how your genes are wired. Throw in how you were nurtured. What would you want to be like if there were no critics?

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I might be related to Rube Goldberg I didn't like the way my front downspout poured onto the interlock walkway near the house and a leader across the path would just be a trip hazard. Instead I put in a new downspout at the gate, six feet of trough across the gate, a drop to a catch and twenty...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

A soon as the new goes in I get a work/potting area behind the shed. It tends to be a bit wet there so I plan to cover it with coarse mulch. I figure mulch wipes off the boots easier than mud and I can get mulch free. The area is also very shaded so nothing grows well.

New HD CEO has a Plan.............

Leather is dangerous as it is tough and can catch on a rough surface such as pavement, causing you to tumble and flail. Fabric lets you slide so just wear a tee shirt and jeans. Flip flops will never twist your foot so there's the answer, beanie, flip flops, tee shirt and jeans. However...

    Honda's losses..

It's not that simple. Compare the sizes of the countries going EV to USA and Canada. I know rednecks in the USA whose drive to work would be considered foreign travel in Europe. Geographically we can't compare North America to Liechtenstein. Culturally, we can't compare Canada to Europe. We...

I'm not up to date on the victim but if irresponsible self centred behavior was the criteria for summary execution half the population would be dead.

Interesting camp site/brewery location near Pakenham

I rode over the bridge but didn't find any better views from there and there's always a nice spot nearby for breakfast. FWIW I stayed in Perth.
