The "Official" Watch Thread and all Things Horological

Cool but spending $30k on a mantle clock is steep for me. https://www.facebook.com/reel/1264553828405313/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Many of the current liberals seem to be enamored by government knows best and will decide our fate. Questioning police actions is a step towards questioning the motivation and legality of politicians actions.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

So on the same day, police are above the law to cater to liberal voters and feel free to shoot intruders many times to cater to cons?

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

An interesting play would be for part of the justice system to charge the cops in the zameer case with perjury. The question is who and how? Prosecutors won't touch that case as cops will sandbag all their future cases. I call that a win as every cop that sandbags a case can then be fired as...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Douggie is siding with the cops and telling the judge to apologize. F off you buffoon. Cops investigating cops and finding nothing wrong is appalling and needs to be stopped not encouraged...

    The knife thread

It's handy. Tucking in carpet, screwdriver, light prying, opening packages, cleqning out grooves, etc

    The knife thread

That's my favorite style of olfa. I bought at least a half dozen of them and have them all over. I much prefer them to the twist knob.

    The knife thread

I knew about that law. I wondered how they had implemented their version of compliance. As it only locks fully closed or fully open, pressing the button when closed and then flicking seems to comply as the law says or and that operation would be and.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I'll hold the camera, you hold the rods. Adds another skill to you aresenal. I think my good rods are at my parents. I'll need to grab them next time I'm down.

1" has zero geometry problems as existing metal pans will be 1" or more. 2" could have some issues but it depends on how you install it. If you ran into geometry issues, trim the corner back a little with a knife to make the room you need. Unless you do something obscene with weight, door...

Hockey bags for lugging/storing moto gear

The upside to some hockey bags is tons of venting. Not so important at the start of a trip but on the way home, not letting your wet/sweaty gear ferment for a day is ideal. My kid got one from costco on sale for ~$50. Your suitcase idea provides far more protection to the stuff inside. There's...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

The spring is trapped on the shaft. The dangerous parts are the rods/wrenches that you temporarily attach. Like chuck keys in a lathe, pay attention to the application of torque and location of fingers or learn a lesson you won't forget. I normally setup a ladder and use the top of my shoulder...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

How's the balance now (ie how heavy does the door feel with the opener disconnected)? Adjusting springs is easy. Just move slowly and intentionally. I have some stainless rods that work perfectly or you can use 3/8" extensions from a socket set in a pinch. They don't fit quite as well but if you...

Sadly, the roof of that car is not much different in height than the bed of many modern pickups.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Now the president of the TPA is calling for a public apology from the judge for calling out lies that their corrupt investigation found no evidence of. At no point has reality ever entered the mind of Demkiw nor the TPA. The statements the cops made were completely unsupported by any evidence...

    The knife thread

For a knife that looks like it's designed for poking, I would prefer a larger guard/quillon to keep my hand from sliding up onto the blade. Did you get to play with it? Can you press and flick to deploy or does the release need constant pressure all the way to the front of the handle?

I'm sure his replacement will be just as smarmy. There is zero effort to purge the corruption from LE in Canada.
