    Imagine if you will

In my youth, I was hyper anxious to prove how intelligent or capable I could be. My ego was super strong. Being naive during this time, I clung to material things as symbols of success and recognition of my abilities. Having children changed me. Gaining experience from elders in all...

What did you do in your garage today..?

I see you can find it through Home Hardware. I’ve been researching for our garage. No tape/mudding/sanding etc. From a time and ease to install standpoint, seems attractive. Cost per sq might be a bit spendy. Wasn’t aware of any code requirements. See lots of endorsements for its use in...

    2025 Auto Insurance rates

Will be interesting to see how 2026 goes. We have home and auto bundled together at the movement but, not afraid to split the business. We have some young adults that are expensive to insure even with drivers Ed and clean records thus far. Having multiple vehicles at the household forces...

What did you do in your garage today..?

I don’t have enough toys to yank the batteries and charge in a central area. I typically have a trickle charger for each toy plugged into its own circuit in the garage. It may appear I’m a dewalt snob but, it’s only for practical purposes and having the same battery type and charging. My...

Thinking of trading my V-Strom 650XT for the new Himalayan 450 – need your thoughts!

Research and analysis is important and helps many get to a point of making a decision one way or another. At the same time, you can spin your wheels getting no where………..my limiting factor is typically budget and room. Some folks live and die by a given make and model and quite happy...

    Daily sports car?

68 to 71 for me. 72 was low compression and smogged. You can definitely update with enough budget. As long as it’s chrome bumper and not 73 or younger, I’m in. Oh! And needs to be manual. My aunt has a 71 big block and it was a riot. Loved it!

Thinking of trading my V-Strom 650XT for the new Himalayan 450 – need your thoughts!

OP, Just do it and don’t question it. Most regrets I’ve heard are from people that said, I had a chance to try this or buy that AND DIDN’T. You’ve done the research, others can chime in with their opinions. At the end of the day, you have some valid thoughts and want to give it a try. Do...

    Cheapskates Corner

We often cruise the meat isle early mornings to look for discounted near expiry deals. Zehrs will mark stuff at 50% off and the others like Sobeys will do a dollar amount or 30% off etc. Beef, we grab what we can. Other stuff we are selective. Chuck it into the freezer and take it out...

Burlington Restore get some choice furniture from Oakville/Burlington. You can tell when there is a change in management with pricing at times. They tag it high and then sits. Get too much stuff, they price to clear. We often make an offer and they accommodate. They see us enough to recognize...

    Cheapskates Corner

All depends on the neighbourhood! Kidding! Generally we avoid fabrics of any kind. Chairs and cabinets and the formentioned lamps and other accessories.

If it’s a neighbour I know, garage beers or something to express our gratitude is a given. Whisky or something.

My wife makes me stop for orphan furniture at the curb. I’m a way back wood hound. Cedars coming out or big old maple that housed the neighborhood raccoons? Hi neighbour! What are your plans for that wood? Mind if i come back with a trailer and take a load off your hands? I believe...

    Knowing Better

The genny and snowblower are idle way longer than the mower. The garage isn’t heated. Ask a small engine shop how many units they get that won’t start or run each year and the reason why. Crap gas and not getting used. As for the hobby toys, every winter during sometime of each month, I...

    Not sure how i feel

As a father of daughters, they have been pillion with me often. They know what’s needed to protect themselves before swinging a leg over the seat. Previous post recommending a ride with the fella is a good one. I’ve seen my kids drive and that scares the heck out of me. They should know...

What's going on with this tire?

I’d check the strut/shock the tire was last located. The belt breaking would put the tire out of round for sure. Just wondering if it affected the suspension in some way. Pretty much every day I drive the QEW, I’ve observed a bouncy wheel from a blown strut or shock. 🤷‍♂️

    2026 Triumph Trident 800 launched

This is a case of needing two bikes. Having something like this and having something else to bring the squeeze. Or have the squeeze ride her own. Mine will never ride her own but enjoys being pillion. Maybe not for a trip to the tail of the dragon or Cabot Trail but, a burger night run.

How long does it take to pull the trigger on a bike purchase?

Dang! That is on my hit list! You likely did the ecu flash……….the cost of winter storage must be getting out of hand and need to get rid of it eh? Let me get back to you after scrolling through the liquor thread to prime my impulsive decision making……… ………and I was just day dreaming...
