Yeah, that base model is a real albatross for dealers to have to keep on the floor. They will hem and haw about letting you order one, just in case you walk away from the deal at the last minute. My dealer told me I had to sign away a $5000 non-refundable deposit if I wanted to spec one a la...
GP Bikes hides the freight, admin, PDI, tire tax, etc. in that price.
All those fees must be close to $2000 these days.
Still, even after that, $10K in options on a $28K bike...? That is crazy.
One of the reasons why the museum is so sparse is because Ducati was struggling for funds before Audi bought them.
A lot of the MotoGP bikes of note were sold to private collectors for cash to keep the company and their race program afloat. A shame, really. Contrast this to Honda, which pretty...
This thread reads like a Rodney Dangerfield sketch.
I feel confident making that cultural reference here because I'm sure everyone on this thread is old enough to know who that is...
Agree and disagree.
The wildly variable pricing gives a lot of potential buyers sticker shock when they actually price out a bike with all the Oh-I-Definitely-Need-That options.
It also throws the used bike market out of whack because making a like-for-like comparison on two bikes of the same...
John Mellencamp wrote a song in 1987, "The Real Life":
When I first heard this when it came out, I thought that last line was so poetic.
Now I think it's just sad and depressing...
Troy Bayliss also has the tip of his little finger missing from his hand being stuck underneath the bike in a crash.
My last highside was at Turn 5 at Calabogie.
Had my eyes open the entire time.
For me, it happened entirely in slow motion.
I'm upside-down in the air for what feels like an...
I don't think Paul Mondor was talking about shunning electricity on the motorcycle itself. After all, he did ride a BMW F650GS for his winter ride across Canada.
I think he was referring to peripherals like heated gear and compressors, and not relying on them for survival if the bike breaks...
I read Paul Mondor's account of his motorcycle trip across the country in the wintertime and he brought up a good point that we've since tried to adhere to in all our travels. He said never to rely on electrics when youre traveling through remote places: no electrics for heat, no electrics to...
First off, your definition of "no issues" may be a be of an overstatement:
Hardly sounds like "no issues". A larger capacity battery should have started your smaller S40 pronto on the first try, and not have to require 7 cranks.
A battery has two functions: storing energy and releasing it...
Bike.
At a certain point, a crash is not saveable and the most prudent course of action is to cordially part ways with the dirtbike lest you get caught up in the ensuing drama if you keep holding on and trying to ride it out even when the tires aren't on the ground any longer.
But being a guy...
Okay.
But just as a point of clarification, headlights and dashlights are also loads on the battery.
When you turn the key, it is normal to see a little bit of a voltage drop as the headlights and dashlights do pull power from the battery.
When you say you turn the key, you don't mean pushing the starter button, correct?
So just turning on the headlight and dash lights pull your battery from 12.86 to 6-8?
Sounds like multiple issues. Your battery is definitely toast, but your starter system is also fried.
If it is, this might have been a self-inflicted issue. You said that it did crank yesterday:
Now it just clicks? Sounds like something in the starter system got blown. Perhaps when you introduced a battery charger to the mix, especially a float/intelligent one like the Nautilus which tests the...
