Yeah the pods came with the bike! But the carbs have also been rejetted and has a 4-1 exhaust so if I can assume the previous owner knew what he was doing, I hope that it does run decent :) Previous owner had it for 40+ years. We will know soon once I can get her started reliably.

Crank No Start '77 KZ650 - Diagnosis help needed!

Those parts are what I have and that's the fuel mix screw under the carb. Parts 42-44 is the air mix on the upper/side and it's not accessible to me from factory. As you said it's probably under a cap but if I can avoid drilling it out I will.

That's one thing I didn't check yet, float height. I will do that next! Thanks. I rechecked the timing and point gap so many times so I'm fairly confident timing is good. Besides float height what other carburetor settings? Already playing with fuel mix screw and I don't have an air mix screw...

Crank No Start '77 KZ650 - Diagnosis help needed!

That's a fair point, I have checked for spark by laying them on the engine like you said above. But I can't remember if both bad ones were on the same side. I will check the resistance of the coils today and see if I find anything interesting. But, if the coil was bad would it have started at...

Heater -- Working on bike over the winter

Thanks for all the responses! I have standard sized single garage but it's separate from the house, there's no entrance from the house and no room above. It's just cement blocks and some plaster on the outer walls, and one of the walls is against the house. The rear has a door leading to the...

Motorcycle Purchase Without License or Insurance

Yeah I'd just get a quote with what @ifiddles said. Weird because I spoke over the phone with many companies and always said I was getting my course done ____ day and m2 on ____ and that was enough for them to quote me.

Heater -- Working on bike over the winter

Good call on the pricing, and thanks for the above answers. I was fearing the dangers of using propane and that cost factor makes it another reason to stick to electric. I'm going to look into those construction heaters, looks like that's the best bet overall.

Heater -- Working on bike over the winter

Hey guys, I'll be periodically working on stuff in my garage over the winter. I want to get a space heater so I don't freeze to death. I have a little ceramic space heater that I've been using on some colder days but it only goes up to 5000 BTU, not nearly enough output. My garage is just a...

Motorcycle Purchase Without License or Insurance

I had the same situation this year. I was passed down a bike but I had no license or insurance. Ownership doesn't require either of those things. I got the bike transferred/registered to me but because I couldn't plate it (no safety, no insurance), I registered it as UNFIT UNPLATED. Now that I...

    Shops that sell older/vintage parts

That's really good information, thanks! That makes sense, a lot of shops said "We have this one store that still sells old parts..." so I guess they were all talking about MC Distributing. Good to know as I was looking to order some stuff from Z1... looks like I don't have to get it from the...

    Shops that sell older/vintage parts

Wow! That's amazing. Thanks for your responses guys, that salvage tip was helpful. There's a salvage place called Peterborough Cycle Salvage and they have brand new points and condensers in stock !! And for a very reasonable price too (last price I was quoted was $90, at Peterborough I'm getting...

    Shops that sell older/vintage parts

Yup that's another online option I could use other than Ebay. Wanted to see if I could save the time/shipping and source them locally but if not that will be the way to go for sure.

    Shops that sell older/vintage parts

Hey guys, I have trouble sourcing stuff out for my KZ650, which makes sense as everything is discontinued. But I know there are aftermarket options out there. I've been going through Motorsports Pickering to get some stuff but they are limited in what they can source, and they're not super...

Hey guys, I was passed down this old motorcycle a couple months ago and I've been slowly working on getting it up and running again. It sat for a couple of years with the previous owner. It's been a lot of fun and getting hands on is forcing me to learn a bunch! I've mostly been using the...
