    Anyone into Photography?

It’s actually cheaper to take your files to WalMart and have them printed there as opposed to supplying your own high end paper and inks. I worked in the printing industry for 28 years… I have experience with this stuff.

OPP air enforcement in Dufferin / Caledon

Yup. A 4 lane road, with a centre turning lane all without a barrier between oncoming traffic lanes. Also one of the higher insurance rate roads (if you live on it) in the province.

OPP air enforcement in Dufferin / Caledon

Used to love those in my F150… right between the wheels, zero bump… Doesn’t work so well with my Nissan Frontier.

    Ktm street legal supersport

Panigale V2 will kick that KTM’s ass…. A 990cc parallel twin won’t be able to compete with the v2.

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Sooo…. CP is very much pushing this concept. They call it SSD - Separate Sort and Delivery. To accomplish this, they will make our routes even longer. As if 24km a day of walking isn’t enough.

You should send these ideas to CP as an outside labour consultant and see what they say!

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Well that shows you don’t know a whole bunch about CP. Yes, there are many depots that are fully “sequenced” mail - machine sorted to your route. We still get about 200 pieces+ a day that need manual Sortation (computers can’t read the hand writing, oversized pieces of addressed junk mail...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

No, you don’t need that with foot letter carriers. We don’t drive a vehicle so all of those points I mentioned earlier aren’t added costs.

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Yes, a super box is easier in that regard. But you completely missed my point of all of the added expenses involved to convert everything to superboxes. Parking space. Vehicle cost. Maintenance cost. Fuel. Insurance. Larger depot required with more dock spaces….

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Most large depots already have multiple starting waves. 7am, 9am, 11am. The later shifts really suck around Christmas time. You’re delivering in the dark for a good 3-4 hours due to the mail volume. You also have to realize that many people don’t want people ringing their doorbell in the...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

So now you’re doubling up on labour. You need someone to deliver the mail to the boxes beside the community mail boxes, and then you need someone to open the relay boxes, pull the mail out and put it into the community mail boxes. Believe me..there’s no simple solution to this mess. Reduce...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

$0.18 for a regular sized flyer. $0.24 for a larger flyer. As a postie, get paid $0.012 cents for regular flyers or $0.018 for a larger flyer. We get paid a pittance compared to the money coming in to CP.

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Ok.. how about this… Superboxes require vans for delivery. Vans require gas, insurance and parking spaces. Almost NO depots have the physical space to store said vans, nor do they have the ability to accommodate 20-125 vans at the loading docks at a time. If they can’t accommodate the dock...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

FYI, there’s a huge possibility that CP with LOCK OUT the workers… THIS IS NOT A WANTED STRIKE. The collective bargaining agreement expired, and both union and CP agreed to extend it for 2 years. That will be expiring. CP has demanded that the union (**** me, I can’t stand unions and I’m in...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

You might be surprised… Now you need more vehicles to accommodate the delivery. More gas. More insurance. Larger depots with more dock spaces. More available space to park the extra vans…. Yes, it’s a completely viable option for locations that have all those options available. Kitchener built...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Unfortunately, CP has hooked their wagon to Junk Mail in an absurdly huge fashion. 33% of CP income is junk mail. As a letter carrier, I have to hit about 300-350 houses a day, simply to deliver junk. The average route in Guelph has about 800-1000 addresses. It’s ridiculous. let’s say I have...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Sooooo…. I work for CP in Guelph. It’s a freaking ****-show. The routes are REALLY long for the most part. Posties are getting done a wee bit early on Thursday or Friday… Monday is overtime almost every week. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are OK at best. If think that it’s a “make work project” in my...

I could likely meet up for a ride tomorrow (Thursday) but not for the food. Starting work at 3:30am in the morning, so it will already be a long day for me.

    Brampton.. Just why?

Living in Guelph would make me absolutely bonkers. I worked downtown a few years back. Traffic is awful. I work there now as a Postie. The city is terrible for any sort of traffic movement. There are traffic lights about every 200m or so on the major roadways. The Hanlon Parkway is awful. A...
