    I'm in Ottawa myself. Measure the length of the shocks via centre to centre of each bolt. I'm betting you're at ~10". It seems that someone was going for looks for function. order new shocks at least 12" in length. I would go for 12 3/4 if I were you.

    Those are progressive springs. Aftermarket. Quality again is what you pay for. What length are those? Stock is 12" I believe. And it shouldn't look like that at all. I have 13 1/4" on mine (race bike) to speed up steering.

    You get what you pay for... They're, well it will still feel like a 35 yr old bike. Spend as much as you can. Worth it in the end if you plan on keeping the bike.

    After trying to start it, pull the plugs. Are they wet? If so, it's a spark issue. if not, fuel delivery problem. How old is the battery? They can wreak havoc on trying to determine problems.
