So I was hit almost head on by a drunk in a SUV...

Hi! That was me you referred to. I was in the ER waiting room too. I'm so glad you posted this. I've wondered what happened to you. Sorry, I don't have any legal/riding advice to offer you. In this situation, I really don't know what else you could/should have done. I do believe you...

    Im offically a biker :D

Congratulations! I remember that feeling oh so well! I also took my course at CMA; August, 2009. My favourite instructor was a female (Carol?). I liked her no-nonsense approach. She was also very insightful. She could tell that I was "over-thinking" how to ride. Thanks for sharing! And...

Where did you ride today? - New rider version

Rode to River 3 restaurant in Cayuga for breakfast this morning. Stopped in Caledonia and then took Hwy 6, and the Linc home. It was a great morning for a ride!

Where did you ride today? - New rider version

Earlier this evening, I rode along Sulphur Springs/Mineral Rd; off Wilson St., Ancaster. It was my first time there on motorcycle (Ninja 250). I was definitely cautious; took my time. (At one point, I even pulled over to the right to let some cars pass. I was in no hurry). And, I'm sooo...

    Crazy impulsive move today..

Congratulations! A friend of mine is planning on buying a Vulcan 900 next season. I recently upgraded from a CBR125 to a Ninja 250. I took my daughter (14) for a ride on the Ninja. She said she was comfortable. She enjoyed the ride. But me being me, and a Mom, I feel she would be more...

    An evening of firsts!

Thanks, Redrock. I actually do that already. In fact, I do tap on my brakes well before I'm coming to a stop. Also, if I feel a car is following too closely behind me, I tap on the brakes a few times. More often than not, the car will eventually move over.

    An evening of firsts!

Oh...my...gosh! Another day of firsts! :) I woke up early this morning and decided to ride from Hamilton (mountain) to Burlington. Took the Ancaster hill, and exited on Brant St. My first time on the 250 doing this. Stopped at Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire on Fairview. I was looking for a...

    An evening of firsts!

Thanks everyone for the advice and suggestions. I was excited about my progress, and wanted to share (hopefully encourage other new riders?). I half expected to get some "so what, big deal" responses :) There are a few people I'd think I'd like to pm, if that's ok. Ride safe!

    An evening of firsts!

Could you explain that, about staying high in rev range, please? Also, I did take my daughter (14) for a 45 min. ride a few weeks ago. She assured me she was comfortable. More so than when she rode on the 125.

    An evening of firsts!

Nope! Personally, I had no interest in taking my 125 on the highway. I prefer country roads. With the Ninja, I feel a little more confident, and capable now.

    An evening of firsts!

I actually felt ok. But, the rides were fairly short. I am aware that I need to relax my arms though. I personally can't imagine riding the Ninja for hours. I find that it get's hot fairly quickly. Does anyone know if that is "normal"?

    An evening of firsts!

I purchased a new-to-me Ninja 250 at the beginning of July. (My last bike was a CBR125). I had some issues with the bike, but they seem to be sorted out now. This evening I rode, for the first time, on the Red Hill to Barton St. and met fellow GTA member 'Lorgayle' at Hutch's on the Beach...

You're missing the point. Oh wait. This is the GTA motorcycle forum. Never mind.

    Smokers around bike

Yes, I would have. I simply don't see the necessity in stating the race. Just saying :)

Would it have made a difference if he hadn't been "Chinese", just asking?

    2005 Ninja 250 owners; I'm curious...

...approximately how many kms do you get on a tank of gas? *If* I get another motorcycle, it will definitely have a gas gauge and FI. I sure do miss those features :(

Beginner Riding Fears. What was yours?

Leaning. I know technically the bike won't go over; it needs to lean. But (really) leaning my bike is still something I have not really tried to do. And no, I have no need/desire to "drag my knee" either :) I've tried watching videos, reading. I know it's just a technique I have to...
