Jevco no longer insures SS bikes

Deja vu with respect to Jevco. They'v pulled this stunt before.

Waving as you pass another rider?

I wave if I see in time and it is safe to do so, otherwise a nod of the head. I don't care about make or style, partially because neither the Trophy or Duc are mainstream. Even more fun is waving at kids in cars in an attempt to swing them over to the dark side.

2012 Ride for Sight Parade route?

Lots of good riding options, especially if they take the route more north than south. Old Barrie Road is good, but you can do it on the way up and home. Big Chute is a nice ride, but boring to get to. Up around Lake Muskoka and Lake Rousseau there are some really good roads with sweepers. I...

Picked up my new Ducati Multistrada S Touring today.

Congratulations. I also see you got the right colour :) It really is an amazing bike, and I am surprised how well the different modes work. Last month I did 2,700 km. two up on mine, and it just keeps getting better and better. Enjoy!

    Trip to Deals Gap

I set out for Deals Gap last month, but ended up getting washed out, realizing a day of riding in pouring rain in North Carolina and then having to haul *** on I-75 to make some commitments in Ohio was no fun. There is always the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline drive, which I also intended to do...

    WTF team GTAM!?!

I had a call from the Foundation tonight, reminding me about the ride and time to donate. Seems they lost track of last year's donation, but wanted to remind me I've been at this since '96. I can't make it this year, but that doesn't mean my money stays home too. We're catching up folks (now...

gears: riding to and from work.

Business casual I wear under the leathers or leather jacket and mesh pants. When I need a jacket it either goes in the saddle bags or top bag, or I leave one hanging in the office with a tie. Dress and/or safety she's at work.

RFS Parade for 2012 - Updated

Re: RFS Parade for 2012 I, for one, feel the change to a local ride up north is postiive. Better riding roads and less traffic headaches. The past couple of years have been rough for the parade, what with no police due to the G20 or inept police getting lost. And no police through Barrie...

    Cbr125r full exhaust system

With respect to the environment it is hard to think of a non-human powered vehicle more environmentally friendly than the CBR125. Milage is stupidly great, even routinely shifting at a minimum of 7500, plus it has the cat converter and doesn't weigh much, so not too many materials went into it...

    bung welding

That's not just welding, that's a piece of art! Very nice work, from someone who dabbles in TIG. Beyond my skill level!

    Jacket Repair

On a whim, when I posted this I also sent Bristol Leathers an e-mail asking if they had any recommendations, thinking perhaps a local tailor. The jacket is still in their lineup (since I bought it in late '93) and they said they would do the reline for $65 (having the patters helps evidently)...

Does any one else think about riding while driving

I think about it, especially in a) bad weather and b) spring approaching. It helps to remember lane positioning, keeping visible, lines, etc. And I absolutely hate riding or driving beside someone - no escape room.

    Jacket Repair

I have an old Bristol jacket that I would like to get relined, since the lining is starting to rip. I have used On the Fringe before, but I don't believe they are either in business or where they used to be. Anybody have any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Torque Wrench - Princess Auto 50% off

I have two from Canadian tire, a 3/8" and a 1/2". You really do need to buy the size for the torque range you want. We have a 1/2" at work, using it at 20 ft-lbs is difficult, since it is hard to feel the give when you hit full torque on it, at the bottom of the range. BTW, the case looks...

Buying a used bike? Check your dealer or manufactures website.

From the seller's viewpoint, there come s a time when it is easier and low cost to hang onto a bike rather than sell it. If one bike is good, two is better - a reserve in case of repairs, or a bike to leave at a cottage. In my case, I decided to sell the CBR125R, but since it costs be $48 for...

    anyone moto- tour italy?

I checked out your route. We have good friends in Italy, including one that works for the ministry of transportation. They were universal in recommending against riding across the heal of the boot. Bad roads, lots of permanent construction, and not the safest. Better if you go down the...

No motorcycle parking in certain parking lots?

I checked at the automated lot at my doctor's. They said it was fine, despite the no bike sign. When I tried it I found the Ducati did not weigh enough to trip the sensor to dispense the ticket to open the gate. A Harley pulled up 5 minutes later though with no problem. So, the gate starts...

    Bike indoors

The major concern of inside storage would be the fuel. Evidently according to the Ontario Electrical Code your garage requires explosion proof wiring within 2" of the floor (don't ask why I know), due to concerns of a fuel spill and vapours igniting. I would have the same concern indoors, so...

Knee Surgery and Return to Riding

I have torn my MCL in my left knee twice - once on the bike, when I put my fut down to avoid dumping the bike - bad move, but I kept it upright (and rode home with a very "loose" knee), the second stepping off of a ladder. Recovery time both times before I felt safe riding was about 6 weeks...

Riding and weather; who mixes both?

I decided yesterday to ride up to Orillia, recognizing that the forecast was rain yesterday afternoon and overnight. By today it was supposed to have cleared. After spending this morning reviewing forecasts, I decided to take a chance and head out, hoping to ride down between waves of rain...
