Air Canada: Fee to choose your seat?!

Ugh, I'd rather have them just embed the fees in the care up front. Psychologically, being nickel and dimed is far worse than accepting a price at the beginning.

Air Canada: Fee to choose your seat?!

Booking a flight to Vancouver from Toronto. It's saying that it's $46 for preferred seating and $31 for any other seating. So I can't even choose my seat without paying?! The last time I booked I paid $25 for preferred seating (since it was a connecting flight from Korea). This is insanity and...

    high heels and motorcycles

High heels on a motorbike looks hot in one place: a photo shoot. If I saw that on the road I'd assume she's a fool. Keep those legs nice and wear protective gear.

    last night 401 east

I'm discussing filtering, not riding on the shoulder. But even on the shoulder, are you aware that a motorcycle is actually smaller than a car? A bike can maneuver easily out of the way. Cars can't.

Cost or doing a single burnout? (Like, in dollars)

LOL, interesting answers from all involved. Thank you.

I'm saying that civilized is relative and this is an example of something that's not clear cut.

Terrible analogy. Filtering doesn't slow others down. In fact, lots of bikes filtering speed things up for cars. Relative to what? Selfish folk in cars who are annoyed that they're in traffic? Who don't realize that filtering reduces congestion? Filtering is common on Japan and Korea; they...

    It's FILTERING, NOT lane splitting!

I don't ever do anything that might be perceived as a bad thing to drivers in the suburbs; every rage incident I've witnessed has been there. I only head through the burbs on my way out to the country, anyway.

Then ride up the shoulder and cool down. Sweat it out or risk a ticket but don't complain about what others do.

Why Lane Splitting / Filtering is GOOD for traffic

The more I think about it the more I think this would be a good idea. Giant billboard on the Gardiner with that message would generate discussion, maybe even make it into the media. I'd drop money into a PayPal account for it.

    It's FILTERING, NOT lane splitting!

Hehe, well in that case, people who don't know where the friction point is shouldn't be filtering. Most drivers don't care or mind at all. I'd guess one out of 10 get slighted, haha.

    It's FILTERING, NOT lane splitting!

My question is how the motorcycle didn't out-accelerate the truck. If you do a move like this you ensure that you get the heck out of the way, haha. I love when taxis try to out accelerate me when I'm riding in the right lane on Bloor. 0.5 cm of throttle = taxi way back in my mirrors.

Cost or doing a single burnout? (Like, in dollars)

So I was thinking: how much would a single burnout actually cost in terms of fractional maintenance on one's bike? Assuming a five second burnout sport touring tires that typically get 10K out of a set. Doing a burnout burns rubber faster than riding them for that many rotations but how much...

    Are men more "feminine" today?

It was mentioned in an earlier post. In terms of self-defense, yes, you must defend yourself or those you care for. But there are situations where fighting can be avoided by using your words or simply walking away. I probably would have called the police before walking over there. Though I...

Why Lane Splitting / Filtering is GOOD for traffic

No more filtering threads. I propose to make one giant filtering sticky where the debate could take place without a bunch of other threads to track. And that billboard idea actually sounds like a great idea!

    Are men more "feminine" today?

Some of us are teachers and require a spotless criminal record. Which means "backing down" from some drunk idiot who wants to fight because you bumped into him at a club.

    It's FILTERING, NOT lane splitting!

I see your first point about being in your lane. I'd definitely be at fault here. However, I'm not one to split here, simply filter. So the risk of a car changing lanes at a red light in bumper to bumper traffic is much less. Plus, simply checking the blind spot and mirrors would fix that. I...
