As expected, suspended with pay. So for driving like a complete ahole, taxpayers give her a six figure vacation. This nonsense needs to stop. Adjudicate psa charges asap where sufficient evidence exists. Suspended without pay is the minimum position this one should start at unless they can't get beyond balance of probability that it was her driving.

Yes, I can remember at least three occasions when it happened. On at least one of them the involved department decided that they would "impound" the police vehicle in their own yard, thereby avoiding having to have the department pay for storage.

Kudos to Welland police. No one dead in 24 hour stand off. The officer that was shot only had minor injuries thanks to body armour. Subject arrested.

All the above based on last night' news.

From what I saw on the news clip, the fence dispute was over blocking traffic sight lines and usage of road allowance. IMO the actual positioning of the fence wasn't that big a deal.

However, the news clip didn't allow me time to read what was written on the fence but it appeared to be a tin foil hat manifesto, possibly directed at the political crowd.

Words on fence were sovereign state/freeman on the land crap. A conflict was inevitable. Trying to tell society that they have no control over you while living in town is next level insane. At least move out to the country.

Just saw a Global News story on it and a local said that the whole situation should have been de-escalated sooner, before this happened. If the guy with the gun is a SovCit then there was no d-escalating it. Any attempt at enforcement of the bylaws simply results in escalation on the part of SovCits, as they don't consider statutes and bylaws to be "real laws." They usually try to somehow import US talking points into their "legal" objections, no matter where they're actually located. I've seen it from SovCits in Canada and Australia. In the US the SovCit movement has been declared a terrorist organization for years now.

Was at a friend's house yesterday morning 3 streets over from the standoff (took Merrit Rd. across the top of town and south to avoid the area but it had already been de-escalated by then). He's well known in town (infamous) for his quirky behaviour, on the alphabet spectrum (CD), has a running feud with the city and many other locals for various sleights, and had told several of his friends/acquaintances that he wanted to go out via 'suicide by cop'.

I don't see a traffic view problem but maybe the grass roots of a Branch Davidian off shoot.

There seemed to be a lot more creative literature since that photo was taken.

Mathematics is a big part of the solution.

To the SovCit, show me a mathematical model that shows how things would work out if there wasn't some form of governmental control.

To the rest of us, show me a mathematical model that shows how things will work out with the present form of governmental control.

It reminds me of a conversation I had with a lady from Nigeria.

She couldn't believe media presence at violent events here.

In Canada a reporter is standing in front of a violent event, guns going off as the reporter says "Behind me a swat team is engaging an armed shooter...."

In Nigeria the reporter is saying "Three miles behind me and a mile to the west a swat team is engaging an armed shooter..."
