If there is a great reason to buy a 4k screen and watch nearfield …that Secret Lives of Animals is it......absolutely mesmerizing
and the Making of just as marvelous
I mean sitting near the screen ( I'm about 1m from a 55" ) you feel you are literally within touching distance
and some of the behaviour never before filmed.
Wonder if BBC and Apple are working together or maybe AppleTv is just the streaming. The feed is superb.

Hugh Bonneville ( Downton Abbey ) is a good choice to replace David Attenborough although I liked Barack Obama in his nature series.

Season 2 is supposed to be released late Feb. Maybe it is here already
I might actually buy the 4k Blu Ray.

3 years in the making.

mebbe - I did like the early Bridgerton. Decent humour.

or not...

I loved the long running series Dangerous Catch off Alaska - saw some of the boats involved in their summer harbour.
This is an Iceland version fishing big cod. Big money too...1/4 million a week 350 boxes of cod.
Had to laugh tho .... - big ship but in a storm where do they shelter? …Isafjord !!!!!

Where we stayed for 3 weeks in January chasing a volcano and northern lights.
Lotsa snow

Just squeaked in the aurora ( very bright streaks over the edge of the hills like search lights and lots duller "blotchs") and a great flight over an active volcano further north - was one of the crazier 600 km drives in winter I've ever undertaken. One of the plows ended in the ditchScreen Shot 2025-06-22 at Jun, 22 2025 4.49.34 PM.jpg
but worth it to fly over a volcano ...bucket list. √

Burton is just brilliant
writing, casting, filmography
- on the last two episodes.
I adored Nightmare before Christmas too

I watched "Trainwreck: Mayor of Mayhem" on Netflix last night.

I saw Doug Ford's comment on the show before I watched it. “Leave the guy alone. Let him rest in peace. Let his family rest in peace. They’re just disgusting people and this absolutely infuriates me,” Doug Ford tells reporters.

I was expecting a lot of sensationalism, US style reality TV, but found the show to be fairly drama free and factual. Rob Ford was completely out of control and in crisis. Sad guy, his family total enablers, Doug in particular.

I've always enjoyed the Alone series and Tasmania is fascinating.
iffy internet for reasons unknown is frustrating but cannot get this on the 50" so no big problem.
Full episodes are available on Youtube
Some interesting back stories, - one guy has only one hand but a good prosthetic
Single farmer mom with 3 kids and tough.
One girl is profoundly deaf but has a cochlear implant.
At least this year there are trout in the lake not just eels like an early season.

They are all survival experts unlike the first Season - one is a god botherer, the most annoying one who could not stay cuz he missed his kids...and whinged about it on the diaries - he's gone tho . One girl is tree hugger that goes barefoot and naked when she can - too bad it's blurred out .
Unlike the first season there are trout around tho not in abundance. Good eels but not all catching them.
Paddymelons and wallabys for hunting. Surprised a handful of earthworms = a burger patty in protein.
Interesting bunch of shelters...some pretty sophisticated but it takes calories to build them, One girl out with a UTI .- She's married to another girl ...show too woke for the US I'd guess,,...she had a steady supply of fat trout from her fish trap....too bad.
It's set in Western Tasmania...they call it the Wild West and it is. We really enjoyed it,
🍿
If you've never seen alone...give the series a shot ...there are many versions

Not immediately engaged - very Amurican, bit soapy but will give it the first episode.
Reprieved for now
Smoke review – no TV show has ever been worth sticking with more
Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett hit every ball out of the park in this smart, mesmerising crime drama about arson investigators. It’s hugely entertaining – if you can make it through the shaky start
