Cool little tool?

I have been using that tool for a few years now. I find using it risky. You have to make sure the bike has no chance of moving forward and having the kickstand unlock itself. By turning the front wheel to left and holding the front brake lever in place. Plus placing all the bikes weight on a pivot point of the kickstand while it's slightly raised up doesn't seem like it was designed for that. I went back to just moving the bike when doing the chain maintenance.

That's a variation of the common trail stand that off-roaders use when they don't have a centrestand on their bike.

Just used mine on the big old Duc a few weeks ago when I ripped a hole in the rear tire and had to replace the inner tube on the side of the trail:

Telescopes down into a compact and light 9" rod for storage.

Normally use it for my 250lb enduro. Surprised it held up underneath the heft of the 500lb ADV!

Can you tell me/us about the funky red thing on your exhaust? Some kind of crash protection?

It could be used for that, I guess. And in my case, it would be much needed...

However, in this instance, it's protecting my rackless panniers, which drape over the rear seat and hang low enough to contact the exhaust, especially on rough terrain, where there is a lot of bouncing going on.

A lot of the manufacturers include a heat shield to protect the bags from being burnt or melted:

The silicone guard I've put on is heat resistant and accomplishes the same thing while looking kinda bling as well... 😁

I made a very similar tool that I have zip tied to my racks.
I simply cut off one of the tubular aluminum adjustable height legs off of a discarded handicap shower chair and made a plug for the cut end.

I use something like this if I'm going on a multi day trip and I need to lube my chain but I'd never use it for anything beyond that.
