That wouldn't surprise me. There'a an entrenched bigotry system (caste) there that allows them to treat their own people like ****. We're nothing more than marks to be treated like inferiors and fleeced by a good number of them.

We saw stories not long ago .. of students showing up with acceptance letters.. cancelled after they arrived.. and no where to go. The school did that.. the government did nothing.. and it's still going on..

Same with international students working for cash.. Yes, they are gaming the system.. most do because they need to... but why don't we get angry at the companies that are employing them, the agencies that are illegally providing the positions.. all making huge money from it.. and the numerous government agencies that allow it happen... and in some cases.. help facilitate it.

Instead we focus on single guy.. and a couple bags of groceries.
I think he's just an easy target for people's anger at the overall situation... warranted or not.
And.. I'm not going to judge someone's financial position based on a sweater and a few social media pics...
His story is all over here and India.. has anyone seen anything else that shows he's lying?

If he's not lying about anything he's said.. how is he scumbag?
With all the attention he got.. as much time that's passed since the story came out.. the different outlets he's talked to..
If there was something damning against him or his story.. it would've been all over the place by now.
But all anyone is bringing up is some debunked salary bs and a screenshot of his closed ig account.. and that "he's too fat..."

Like I said.. I agree with almost everything being said in general.. I just don't think this guy is the poster boy for it that some are trying to make him out to be.

Is there a country in the world not living beyond its means?

How is bringing in migrant workers different than borrowing money to pay off debt?

If borrowing from a loan shark keeps you alive to work another day use that day to work your ass off to repay the debt and never get into that situation again. Sadly, in the world mega-economy, the decisions are made for us by people with four year visions.

As much as I see Kevin O'Leary as a jerk we need to follow his "Show me the money" mantra. We or the government can't just keep having our credit card limits raised. Immigrants are just tokens in the economy, used to balance the immediate books.

Somebody needs to be the poster boy for this type of scummy behaviour.

I think he auditioned to be the poster boy in that video.

Governments.. schools.. recruiters.. agencies.. companies illegally employing them... take your pick. I'm sure we can come up with others..
The international student scheme.. because that's what it has become.. is having a negative impact on our house situation.. impact on the employment market... healthcare system.. billions are being stolen from taxpayers.. etc.. etc.. etc..
Focusing on a single dumbass that got caught up in the massive scheme.. isn't worth the time.. nor attention... even if he did steal the food.

What part of it being exposed and therefore the attention of people that wouldn't ordinarily have any knowledge of these scams/scammers don't you understand? People need to wake up and realize the ****show that's going on around them before it's too late, if it already isn't. If some pudgy little scammer wannabe needs to get thrown on the pyre to achieve that, so be it. I'll bring my lighter.

My list:

The food bank rip off. At least the publicity is having some effect.

The 900,000 students and their finances have been tweaked. The value of the courses is subjective.

The cheater driving written tests and the out of town road tests put everyone at risk. Had the provincial government announced any corrections or charges?

The flawed study to push bike lanes is building gridlock. Any correction there?

Developers and retailers seem to like big box malls. The malls are dependent on automobiles.

Public transit is a joke so suburbia remains car centric as it continues to expand

We had 102 candidates for mayor but I don’t see any talk of restrictions. Does that become another chit show next time?

E bikes running amok. Any changes coming or do we need a bunch of dead bodies.

Landlord tenant board. Need I say more. Fix the bloody thing.

Eliminate zoning. Everyone can put in a basement apartment. Of course our transit sucks so the new people will have to park on the street that has already been narrowed to provide bike lanes

Densifying downtown means more demand for parkland but a lot have been taken over as tent cities. High Park has been taken over by special interest groups.

A lot of the above is a rant / hijack but not all. When you change one thing it shifts problems elsewhere.
