Went for a little ride today (Saw a bike westbound on 7a in Port Perry.) Nice and sunny, balmy +5. Saw dark clouds to the north and my gps weather radar showed it as rain with snow a ways to the west. A few flurries fell, some ice pellets then it started properly snowing. Temp dropped to +1 and occasionally to 0c. Roads were still fine but it made sense to head hom. Was sunny at home but several bands of snow came so I passed in any more riding.

I was in Bowmanville when this hit. It was a proper squall line that came in like a freight train. It was sunny a few minutes before and was sunny again 20 minutes afterwards.

Glad I went out yesterday instead.

What GPS are you using that includes radar, and is it satellite based or is it linked to and using your cellphone data?

I'm still looking for some solutions for connectivity for our JBR trip this summer. I have the Satellite emergency beacon functions built into my iPhone 14 for true emergency situations where there's no cellular, but with our planned route and timeline I anticipate having proabably 3 full days more or less with no connectivity. Having weather radar and some basic forecasts would be awesome - it would be nice to know what sort of weather to be expecting in the hours ahead, plus overnight while tenting, and what gear to anticipate needing the next morning - IE "I should be bringing my rain gear to bed with me tonight as I'm going to need it in the morning" type thing.

Garmin Zumo XT. My last three Zumo's had weather radar on them. Garmin has messed it up a bit but it is still very handy. It connects with the phone so the phone needs a data connection (Same with the weather app) which also has road conditions map showing wet, icy, snow and also weather warnings, weather ahead, traffic, traffic cameras.

Not perfect but just the same I find the Zumo very handy. I also use it when in my car. I normally run Waze in the car and like it's police warnings but also have the zumo running as I like the traffic info it gives better than Waze.

Yeah today was a wacky day for weather. A bit of everything, except warmth.
Also seems the roads got some fresh brime and or salt, lots of white tracks everywhere. (TO that is)

next 2 weeks look like dog shite, April it is

Did same (without pics). Was clear in Markham at 3:30, then blizzard for 20 minutes.

When I got home I tried firing up a little 125 for a run around the block Pegs were wet with snow, I slipped off while kicking it over, ended up on the ground tangled in the bike. Now I’m icing a badly swollen thumb and knee.

It was kind of a weird day to ride today. I'm pretty sure the temps were much lower than what the phone was showing. No fun.

It actually is better than yesterday 🤷🏻‍♂️ minus the slowed down traffic
You know you have a 2 wheeled vehicle not a 4x4, right?. But you ride it like a snow plow. Well done!
