no more floorboard scraping, congrats!

Nobody noticed I didn't say it was mine? lol. A few suspected I'm sure.

It's a friends new ZX14R. I don't think I'd ever buy anything like that but it sure looks purdy in the garage. Just storing it for him for a while until he sells his old ride - nice FJR with a super expensive Russel Daylong seat coming up for sale soon.

I was about to say I could run some of those off with my vinyl cutter, but weeding those after the fact would probably be a literal nightmare lol.

I rode a bit today, did about 430 km. Southside of Rice Lake (photos at Harwood) Campbellford Shannonville, Napanee, etc.

My 2020 V-Strom DL1050 turned over 200,000 km while riding today. (I bought it new and first ride as July 1, 2020.)

I had planned to ride this evening to meet friends for Dune 2 (wicked film btw).

Lo and behold the kickstand spring had snapped! $80 for a new one, oy.

Me thinks keeping a zip tie or 2 handy will be the plan going forward.

I'm sure you know that its easier to fork out $80 for some twisted metal now than a lot more $$$ when you accidently lay it down while trying to slide the zip tie off.

I just threw a pack of mini bungees I'd found kicking around in the garage into the top box on my bike a few days ago - wasn't quite sure what I'd use them for, was kinda thinking they might come in handy in some way during the James Bay ride this summer, but they'd actualy work pretty awesome for a kickstand spring failure - rigged up right they'd hold the kickstand up, but also stretch to allow it to go down when needed.

If i can have a spring break in the first 500km, something quick & cheap to get me home may be in order..

Oakville allegedly has this in stock, I'll be calling when they open.

Otherwise a mini bungee was in the back of my mind as well.

And I thought my goal of 100,000km on my V-Strom since 2018 was impressive. Only 16k to go. Then I will have another 100k to catch up to you lol

So in the end i hit Canadian Tire for some mini bungees, as Oakville location was closed and the weather looks meh for the next 2 days. While at the Tire I decided to look for springs on a whim. Found a box of Trampoline springs that was roughly the same length as stock. Took 2 minutes to attach it, back in business.

$18 box of springs vs $90 for 1 OEM. Le sigh.

Almost 200km exactly. Meandered out to Grand Bend. Beach looked like I should have brought trunks.

Just short of 440km on the new scoot today. It was glorious. Pretty freakin darned happy with it thus far, just have to get the highway pegs dialed in a little more and the backrest needs to some additional futzing with the angles to get it into full couch mode, but so far so good.

I will say, on a cool start and cool end to the day, heated seats are next level.

My riding buddy came along for the second half of the day on his new ZX14R and racked up his first 225km on it as well.
