Riders Choice Trackday May 9th Shanny - Fabi

I never went because I was scheduled for the Fast School phases 1 and 2, which was a blast despite the wet conditions. Just comes to show the amount of grip you have in the wet as long as you're smooth. We did have 3 crashers though.

Doing some track days this summer

Fantastic looking bike, hopefully I'll see you out there at some point.

    FAST school. Who's going?

That sucks! bad. I was going to come on here and ask which one you were from the group. Yesterday's weather was atrocious, we were riding through buckets of water. Some people said hell no and never even got on track and others did a half day. There were 3 crashes, one of which was a high side...

What's your view on trail braking?

Both techniques are valid and have their uses on the street, but if you're on the track and your aim is to go fast then trail braking is definitely there it's at. It's the technique used by almost every racer including all the pros. No one in pro racing enters corners off the brakes, being on...

    FAST school. Who's going?

It is laughable you think you can do anything let alone change direction/lean when you're hydroplaning. Where are you going to get the necessary traction to do anything like steering or braking when you have none of it. You're tires aren't making contact with the ground. If both wheels...

    FAST school. Who's going?

Agree completely on Q3+s being a subpar rain tire, I would prefer many Bridgestones or Michelins before even considering Dunlops for that matter. Don't get defensive, I'm simply clarifying the gravity of hydroplaning. If you're riding at a pace that will allow you to hydroplane WHILE in a...

    FAST school. Who's going?

What?! Riders Choice rescheduled their trackday from yesterday to Tuesday to avoid rain. SMH.....

Riders Choice Trackday May 9th Shanny - Fabi

Great service from Riders Choice by moving the trackday to a more riding friendly one and calling me up to ask for availability.

    FAST school. Who's going?

Agreed about learning how to ride/race in the rain. But the odds of you surviving an actual hydroplane in a puddle while leaned over are next to nothing. If you hydroplane, your tires aren't making contact with the ground, you're hovering on water, which will put you on your back faster than...

    Why do riders do this?

Exactly what I was thinking, don't they make like $80/hr?

To train or not to train?

Misti Hurst has been spreading knowledge on motorcycle forums for years, she is polite and knowledgeable as can be and definitely deserves much more recognition than she gets. I've spoken with her on riding technique many times before (on different forums) and you would be hard pressed to find...

What's your view on trail braking?

Agreed, BSB riders revmatch all the time despite running quality slipper clutches. With that said, not every pro out there rev matches and some just like to depend on their slippers, which is fair enough. Now that you have autoblip systems most people won't care at all about rev matching.

What's your view on trail braking?

There is maintenance throttle which is applied right after you're done trail braking to maintain your line ( not tighten it) and keep the bike stable as well as prepare for acceleration out of the corner. If you're off the throttle, then you're on the brakes, and vice versa, so you're never...

What's your view on trail braking?

When I mentioned blipping, I was referring to rev matching. I still see no reason whatsoever to be on the brakes and the throttle simultaneously. Being on the brakes will tighten your line and maintain stability.

What's your view on trail braking?

You mean blipping the throttle during braking?
