    Motorcycle rental decision

I rented a R1200RT several years back from Eagle Rider would do it again very nice for 2-up super comfy and capable for long stretches on the interstate if necessary but also fun in the twisties. GS definitely second choice but can't see needing to spend more than double for anything else.

Pickup truck vs trailer vs van

Now kicking myself that I never thought of that lol I had the HF trailer for a couple years, did one big trip with it. Felt flimsy and rickety. Also took up a lot more space in my garage than the trailer in a bag. Yeah it's cheap, but usually you get what you pay for. I've read some guys weld...

    Semi retired lifestyles

That's definitely an option we've considered. I'm genuinely conflicted because I can't see how it can just keep going up when it's already unaffordable such a large swath of the population. Young people (Gen Z) are leaving our community in droves, I've seen it with my own eyes. I just don't see...

Pickup truck vs trailer vs van

I knew someone was going to ask me the price, had to go look up my receipt. They charged me $1,299 + HST and $12 tire tax in January 2019. I believe it was advertised as the same price ($1,499) at that time so presumably it would be the same. Best to check with them. Yeah you probably wouldn't...

Pickup truck vs trailer vs van

Back on the original topic ;) if you need a trailer for occasional use and storage is a concern you really can't beat a single rail trailer like the Trailer-in-a-bag. It's actually a bit cheaper than the price you see there if you pick it up at their factory in Cambridge. I fit the entire thing...

So are all the demo rides going to be scrapped this year? (but mostly BMW cluster discussion)

So far so good. Nice engine, lots of character. I owned an F800GT back in 2013-2014 and this is definitely an evolution of that same familiar powerplant. I sold the GT in part because it was ridiculously expensive to insure. The XR for some reason is 40% less despite having a larger engine -...

    Camping stove at Costco

Doesn't look very compact? I have used one of these for a few years now, great for boiling a pot of water. Don't think I'd want to use it for much else. Moto camping for me means traveling light not with a full kitchen. I pack some instant oatmeal and coffee and a couple of those freeze dried...

So are all the demo rides going to be scrapped this year? (but mostly BMW cluster discussion)

I have it on my F900XR it's pretty good for turn by turn, I don't have the nice map like these super huge displays but I don't mind I find that kind of distracting anyway. I had lots of issues on the first few rides before I figured out I had to keep my phone plugged in to power to prevent it...

    Semi retired lifestyles

Loved reading this thread and the breadth of experiences & perspectives. I've been giving a lot of thought to 'retirement' and the future. I've been semi-retired for the past 1.5-2 years now. Started out by taking a leave of absence from my job of ~10 years to pursue something I wanted to do...

Vintage insurance - here we go again.

Not crazy money no. And yes I had to get an appraisal. Limited to 2,000km per year. This is not my primary bike, and yes that is pretty much what vintage insurance is intended for isn't it?
