    Good value for a bike of that value would be 400 for a full coverage mileage limited warranty. In my opinion 400 for a motor only warranty is WAY too much.

    My biggest concern would be that he has his insurance paid up. I may be wrong but I'm pretty certain that if a fire Marshall ruled the cause of a fire to be his bike, your home insurance would deny your fire claim.

    Maybe so, but not irrelevant to the way they treat us. They lose money, that justifies an increase. Using the same approach record profit heard should translate to a decrease in those premiums, but they never have. It's the same problem with gas prices.

    Including the obvious insurance implications in the future it gets worse. The $5000 carries a 25% victim surcharge, making it $6250. What's worse is 5000 is the minimun, first offence carries a max of $25,000 plus surcharge, and one year suspension. Find a good lawyer yesterday, and do whatever...

    Without knowing the OP's stats it borders on irresponsible to say a ticket or two won't affect his insurance record. For example, my story starts in 2001: 1. Got my first ticket for 17 over.     It's actually free to hinge just like the peg. Which wouldn't do much for a cars paint, but it does keep it from taking me out. I keep it flipped up until I'm ready to use it.
