So it's that time again....winter pasttimes?

For some reason I’ve gotten into puzzles.

Always looking for a decent 500-1000 piece puzzle and highly enjoy just sitting there putting it together.

Until I can’t find the piece … then I’m ready to throw the puzzle out the door.

I would love to get into some WW2 strategy games over the winter. But hard to find people to play.

Wow congrats. That's a fantastic drop.

For me...horrible.

Something changed and I'm struggling with late evening / night snacking. I'm not sure if it's stress or something else, but I am really struggling with that aspect of my life.

Yesterday I knocked down a fresh bun, 1/2 of a chocolate bar, tortilla chips, and some more bread...I'm at my wits end and I'm really not sure what to do or what's going on.

Been a very stressful month at work, so that could have been it. Add in general stress, and I think binge eating is my comfort mechanism...but I share too much on GTAM so...

But in a nutshell...I'm not gaining weight, but I'm not losing weight, and while I am back to working out, lots of walks I'm still gaining around the waistline (mid 40s).

Currently at 172lbs, and looking to hit 160lbs by spring 2027.

Sorry to hear this, MP. Eating your feelings is a normal reaction to stress.

My metabolism dropped off a cliff around your age, and it was a shock to the system trying to adopt new eating habits like portion control and cutting out grains, which also happened to be my comfort food.

My weight yo-yos depending on what's happening in my life, but for me, cutting caloric intake was way more effective a weight loss strategy than caloric expenditure.

I just don't like exercise... :(

Best of luck in your journey!

Thanks. Work stress is part of it. Obviously life / family stress is something also.

I'll keep working on it, and a few friends in my age group have had heart issues recently which scared the hell out of me, so there's added stress to deal with trying to stay healthy.

Too bad both my MIL and wife are great cooks. If they were horrible cooks it would be easier.

Sounds good to me, I eat all the time. The only exercise I'm doing is riding or shovelling in more food. :ROFLMAO:
Just in enjoy. Walk the doggo, and browse bike listings ;)

Thank you for sharing, Sir.

I turn 40 next year which is what drove me to take my health seriously.

Full Disclosure: I am working with a Coach...not cheap but so far I've remained natty - no peptides, TRT etc etc.
My Testosterone levels have been steadily increasing as my fat% has been decreasing. Coach mentioned something about fat cells aromatizing testosterone into estrogen or something - kinda went over my head tbh.

But yea, right now I'm limited to 1500 calories a day. Everything from macros to water intake to step count to sleep hours and workout routines is tracked. Progress pics and 3xweigh-in every week.

I found that the accountability aspect plays a more crucial role for me to see this through. I remember this one week I stagnated (no fat loss) due to bad sleep and was working extra hours due to oncall etc. Coach literally blasted me on the call. Straight up told me he's never had a client who has failed so far so I'd better not be the first. Ever since then everyday has been intentionally planned to carefully balance intake (like what @Lightcycle mentioned) vs output.

Anyways, hope you are able to lock in. Best time to start is now instead of waiting until next year 🙏

Easier said than done , put less shite in your mouth . Restaurant portions ( in most places) are stupid large , full of carbs and bad stuff . Don’t eat bread , you don’t need it in your life . Ask wife and MIL to work with you , but at days end it’s your pie hole your filling. You’re going to hate this part , alcohol ……

Best part is you recognize you would like to be on top of this , so there’s the start . Best wishes , you’ll get there .

Be careful on extremely low calorie diets. Starvation cause the brain to permanently put the body in high efficiency mode and it never reversts to normal. I know people that can meet their daily caloric needs with a burger combo. Nutritional needs are more demanding.
