I haven't been able to track since covid started and I see track day prices are 260-280 now. Jesus is that normal now. Last time I went on track like Shannonville it was 180.

And $350-$400 for the full-size racetracks like Calabogie and Area 27 out where I live.

There's also the worrying trend of racetracks going private and mandating them members-only like a horsepower country-club, limiting access to outside track day organizers. Big tracks like COTA, Willow Springs and Chuckwalla.

I never knew this was happening at the big tracks.

LOL, I remember when Rider's Choice had Mosport track days for $160 - the big track, not RDT. Back then, RDT was around $100. Sure miss those days.

You get a free lunch though, considering the price of groceries that's not a bad deal.

Try ride42 and reddawn trackdays they may be more cost friendly.

My Brother in law switched to dirt bikes. Cost to get on dirt track is cheaper and equipment is cheaper too. what do you guys think?

Different kind of riding but the skills developed on a dirt track are just as transferable to steet as track.

Slower speeds, more focused on 360 degree body positioning to preserve or remove traction. You'll develop a better sense of how to use throttle and brakes to turn a bike.

If a couple of hours of track time will do Shannonville does Tuesday evenings for $70.80 + tax, comes to $80 even. Not every Tuesday but every 3rd or so, next one is May 26. On their site under Two Wheel Tuesday. Normally on the long track.

It's absolutely worth trying, even if you have to rent equipment until you're convinced it's something you want to spend enough time doing to invest in your own. I started on a dirt track and feel like I learned so much more than if I had started on the street. The lower traction limits and speeds really help you explore the limits with confidence, and it all translates to higher speeds on the tarmac.
