The knife thread

Cutting boards

I regret throwing out my poly plastic one. It was rough from taking a lot of cuts but that roughness held a filet of salmon in place while I skinned it.

Hard cutting boards, glass, ceramic, granite are for rolling out cookies. The Mrs. is a germaphobe and doesn't like wood. We use poly and the kitchen isn't big enough for the wood one I'd really like.

I was at Nella cutlery in Mississauga picking up some stainless hacksaw blades and noted they had a bunch of used commercial knives dirt cheap. I picked up a fish fillet equivalent to my Finnish Martiini for $2.00 and I like it better, even though it's got an ugly green handle.

Nella sells more than knives, full commercial kitchens etc

I lost interest in ceramic knives when I noticed the tip of one I was using had broken off. Where did it end up?

This is my favourite knife. It’s one of the few Spyderco folder/flippers where the blade is completely hidden in the handle.

Other Spydercos have a wide profile that I don’t really like. Fantastic quality on this thing. I had to keep an eye out for a sale as MSRP is spendy.

Life is too short to hunt with an ugly gun or carry an ugly knife

Kind of reminds me of Delta 7's motto (tomorrow is never promised, have the tools to get through today).

Too bad they closed shop, sad to see a Canadian company go under. I'm glad a grabbed a few of their knives when I did - their main site just 404's now but they are apparently coming out with a new company, not sure if it's going to be knife related or not. I have their Lynx fixed blade and Keara flip models.

They will announce their new company on fb if anyone is interested: DELTA 7

There is some ongoing drama with a MI knife manufacturer Bark River Knives mislabelling Chinese low end steel for high end US steel in some of their knives.
Quite a mess with some resellers including Bushcraft Canada currently holding a fair bit of their product.
